5 Things For Progressives To Hate In The New Spending Bill

Congressional negotiators agreed Tuesday night on a $1 trillion bill to fund the government, apparently staving off a second shutdown in two years.

The 1,603-page bill is full of concessions from both sides, leaving the right wing of the Republican caucus wary — which means that House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) will almost certainly need significant Democratic support to pass it when it comes to the floor on Thursday.

That could be a problem. Like all massive spending bills, the current version is — as Senator John McCain (R-AZ) artfully put it — “jammed full of s**t.” And much of it has congressional liberals furious.

Here are five provisions of the spending bill that progressives will hate:

Wow, a 1,603 page bill. I wonder did anyone read it? There is certainly one good thing in the bill and that is the expiration date. The country does not need more of this gamesmanship and needless threats of shutdown. The extremist on both sides will of course continue to whine and point fingers. A real surprise would be if they didn’t bitch and complain.

As to the provision that once again allows the biggest banks in the Country, to use Gov insured money to gamble in the high risk derivative market. (Citicorp’s own Lawyers wrote the amendment.) I would suggest those hardworking American families who don’t want to find their tax dollars once again bailing out the big banks. That you pony up the required $374, 000 dollars, per politician. To pay enough Representatives to take it out. Just like the bankers paid to have it put in. What is it that’s so unfair about that? Isn’t this exactly how democracy, free speech, and the Capitalistic system is supposed to work? Enough with the free lunches! In America, you get all the representation you can afford. And not one dime more!

Nearly half of republicans think the 2012 election was stolen by an organization that had been dead for two years. Truth and facts are a wasted effort with people like that.

Well, I suppose the Liberals thought the Conservatives were dead…..not entirely……….Grasping at straws before 2015 are they….

      1. jointerjohn December 11, 2014

Not at all. Republican candidates were chosen by almost 20% of eligible voters. Wowee!!

Those sly dogs. They know exactly what they are doing:)

If that strikes you as odd, it may be because the community-organizing nonprofit [Acorn] shut down in 2010, after the backlash from a right-wing video hoax helped drive it into bankruptcy.

The gift that keeps on giving but it’s certainly no hoax. Here’s the video:

What is it with “community organizers” and their lack of ethics?

Yes, it was so artfully cut and edited that O’Keefe got a felony conviction out of it.

      1. CapitalistRoader December 13, 2014

O’Keefe has never been convicted of a felony.

        1. johninPCFL December 13, 2014

Oops. Yes, technically you are correct. He was charged with a felony (which most of us remember), then plea bargained it down. Ah, well. Still a criminal.

The Acorn vid’s had nothing to do with O’Keefe’s misdemeanor. Rather, it was O’Keefe posing as a telephone repairman in [soon to be ex-]Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-La.) home office in Louisiana. The schtick was to check to telephones to see if they were working since Landrieu claimed “no constituents have called me to complain about Obamacare.”

O’Keefe got dinged for “entering a federal building under false pretenses.” Big whoop. His videos will remain entertaining and enlightening for decades to come. He truly is the Michael Moore of the right.

More importantly, Acorn is dead and buried thanks in large part to James O’Keefe.

5 things? all the left does is hate.

Wait, so shutting down the Government is now the cool thing now that you found a few stinkers in the bill? The worm turns.

Man-made global warming cannot be proved. It’s an ever-shifting mirage of illusions conjured up to exploit the sympathies of the gullible.
