Advertisers Are Dropping Sean Hannity

The Associated Press (AP) just published a report that looked at the first few weeks of Media Matters’ Stop Hannity effort and discussed the effect it’s having on Sean Hannity’s advertisers.

In August, Media Matters launched a Stop Hannity advertiser education effort. Hannity isn’t just a partisan talking head with a television show. He’s a full-blown propagandist and has been exposed for actively coordinating with the Trump administration to promote President Donald Trump’s interests, even if that means lying to his own audience. Hannity aggressively promoted the conspiracy theory about the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich — which happened to help deflect attention from a negative storyline about Trump — even after Fox had retracted its own story.

Aside from peddling conspiracy theories, Hannity has also echoed the president’s defense of the neo-Nazis and white supremacists at a Charlottesville rally. And he has practically made Trump’s personal lawyer in the Russia investigation a co-host on his Fox News show, Hannity, by regularly bringing him on to undermine the rule of law and promote attacks against the president’s critics.

In effect, Hannity is functioning as state-aligned programming. And advertisers that sponsor the program are financially supporting his political chicanery and Trump’s political interests. Additionally, Media Matters has warned that sponsoring Hannity is just bad business because he is volatile and Fox News is unwilling to apply any standards to his program at all.

Hannity’s volatility is forcing advertisers to make a business decision on whether to leave or avoid his show. His volatility is, in part, why Media Matters has decided not to publicly release the names of the dozen or so advertisers that have chosen to drop him. Notably, when asked by the AP, Fox News did not deny that advertisers were in fact leaving Hannity’s show; instead, the network declined to comment.

The AP article explained that the Stop Hannity campaign aims “to convince media buyers and companies that the show is too controversial for their products” by spotlighting how “Hannity [has] gone beyond mere commentary” and instead is running a Trump propaganda operation. The report’s headline seemed to downplay the impact the campaign is having, but the text of the article discussed the Stop Hannity campaign’s impact so far and explained why Media Matters believes it has a recipe for long-term success:

Media Matters said some dozen advertisers have told the organization they will not purchase commercials in Hannity’s show in the future; some have current contracts and are staying put until those commitments are completed.

[…]

Boycott efforts frequently go nowhere, but Carusone’s track record made this one worth watching. He was involved in trying to get advertisers to back away from Bill O’Reilly this past spring, following reports of settlements made in sexual harassment cases against him. Advertisers, and Fox, quickly abandoned him.

Prior to that, Carusone helped persuade advertisers to stay away from Glenn Beck’s Fox News Channel show. That effort took more than two years, but Beck’s show was slowly choked to the point where it had too few advertisers to be feasible financially.

That’s the methodical strategy he’s employing with Hannity, trying to convince media buyers and companies that the show is too controversial for their products.

All for it. The only way to hurt the RWMO is in the wallet. The more “mainstream” advertisers pull out, the more the Radical Rich will have to fund these efforts personally. When the effort begins to impact even the wealthy’s bottom line, they may reconsider the cost of their politics. Too bad they can’t see the cost of their politics to all the rest of us.

The hole in the story is that advertisers are NOT really leaving. In addition, Hannity has more advertisers waiting to get on his show.
This story is just like the one a few months back that claimed that Rush was losing his sponsors, but even you have admit, that was just another FAKE MSM story.

And you know this how. Ad buys on a national level are done months in advance and just because the present contract is still running means little. Fox News slipped to number three in the ratings and Hannity is not pulling in the viewers he once did. He’s not the value he once was to the advertisers.

Sponsors pick shows that they think will increase their sales. They target specific audiences. Hannity’s ratings are not in question here. The article says sponsors are leaving but no evidence was provided. As you pointed out, the sponsors are under contract for certain periods. Most shows have a sponsor waiting list.
When “they” claimed that Rush’s days were numbered for the same reason, they were way off course.
Until confirmed, this is just more FAKE MSM “news”.

Haven’t you lefties learned from the polling fiasco? It turns out they stacked the base by polling twice as many Dems as GOP voters. And yet they had not problem reporting their polls numbers as being accurate!
Don’t you recall Rachel Madcow’s explanation how “even if Trump has the best day ever, he still has NO chance of winning”. Her and the MSNBC and CNN political experts went into great detail, state-by-state, showing how there was not way Trump could possibly win and most likely would lose in a landslide.
You were naive enough to believe their lies then. So, go ahead and believe their lies again. I could care less. If Hannity loses sponsors and replaces them with new sponsors, what’s the difference? He’s still on the air and I doubt will change what he talks about. Duh!

Hannity and Rush have no waiting lists, you could buy them and be on the air tomorrow. Very few show have waiting list. You know nothing about how advertising works. If you want to see how sales are going for their ads look at how many ads for their own station or their own products there are. If you check there is a list of companies that have stopped buying ads on these shows. If I know anything it’s advertising. I worked at the same radio station Rush started at and owned an ad agency. I once bought Rush for a dollar an ad. He was Jeff Chandler back then on WIXZ. If you want cheap ads cable news is some of the cheapest places to advertise. Look who is advertising with then, the bottom of the barrel.

Sorry bob, but you definitely DON’T know advertising!

Since I don’t watch/listen to them, I have no idea who is advertising, but the first rule of business is you have to pay the bills. Rush and Hannity certainly pay the bills and then some. Both their shows are selling enough of whatever product they are pushing to not be threatened. Unlike Rachel Madcow, and Keith O. who regularly show up in the “looking to be cancelled” category.
As to Rush, when there was a push to pull all his advertisers, I recall several articles that described how there were several sponsors who were in the wings waiting for the opportunity to start paying for their ads.
It would appear you DON’T know as much about advertising as you thought!
Anyone, like you, who believed the FAKE MSM election polls, obviously is not as sharp as you imagine you are.

Ms. Rachel is beating Hannity in rating now and no one is boycotting her advertisers. You say the first rule of business is paying your bills, well tell that to Trump. He thinks it’s wait to be sued and then pay if you have to and only as little as you can get away with.

As usual, you post nothing of value! As to Rachel, no one has to boycott her advertisers, she has so few of them. Her show regularly shows up on the list that is being considered to be cancelled. I’d say that’s a pretty good indicator that she’s in financial troubles, just like the DNC.
The DNC contributions are at record lows, meanwhile the GOP is pulling in contributions at hear record high levels. Who’s putting in the money? It’s moderates who have left the Dem party!
You opinion of how Trump Enterprises runs their business is your opinion. They certainly must pay more of their invoices than they get sued for or they wouldn’t be the billion dollar firm they are.

Once again you haven’t a clue what you are talking about. Fox just moved Hannity to Rachel’s time slot hoping to steal some of her viewers. Fox was taking a beating at that time slot which is a bread and butter slot. Who cares about the DNC fund raising, we are talking about Hannity and his problem.
Thump as been in court a record 4000 times. His own lawyers have sued him for not paying his bill. No US bank will lend him money that’s why he had to go to China and Russians for money.

Sorry bob, but your opinion doesn’t fit the scenario. The number of times President Trump has been to court is of no value. He’s been a businessman for 50+ years, so it’s not surprising. Because he’s rich, folks try to take advantage and sue over anything.

Back to the original subject, this story is of no interest as it mean zilch. If Hannity goes off the air, Fox will replace him. So what positive does that do for you lagging behind Dems? Nothing!

Fox started to lose viewers leading up to the election because they wouldn’t support President Trump. It’s their business and they can chose to run it anyway they wish. The fact that some sponsors might be pulling out is worthless news.

You admit Fox is losing viewers. It’s because people have learn that they have been lying to them. Until last week Hannity was Trump greatest cheerleader.

Poor bob, as usual you post drivel. In President Trump’s case, it was to his advantage to pay out SOME of the cases, but overall, he’s won more than he’s settled.

OK, so Fox is losing viewers largely because they don’t support President Trump. Who cares. OK all of Hannity’s advertisers dumped him and his show gets cancelled. And how many votes does that get the Dems? Zilch! Hence my comments that this is a desperate attempt by the left to try and create a “scandal” against the President. Nothing they’ve done has stuck and President Trump is more popular today than he was when he got his MANDATE from the voters.

It’s not the votes gained by the Democrats its those brainwashed people not voting that will hurt the republicans. Funny thing about Trumps scandals, they sure look like he is going to go to court again.

NOPE, President Trump will not be going to court. The so called “scandals” don’t grow legs and are soon forgotten. Mueller will be gone when his funding runs out and will produce nothing of value against President Trump.

The Trump university payout was to avoid him being tied up, as he needed to spend his time Making America Great! He had very little to do with the venture, except his name was on it. Hence that link is worthless to prove your fake claims.

The business deals were venture opportunities and investors have to accept their are risks. I love the part where the couple are crying about their losses and the husband is a financial guru!

SO, none of the articles claims President Trump stole from anyone. In fact they show how risky the venture capital business is.

Hell obozo convinced everyone he was born in Hawaii and we all know that is a yuge lie!

And HilLIARY claimed that Bill’s affairs were nothing but a “vast right wing conspiracy”! And she claimed that no classified information passed through her illegal server!

Last year, there was a “large” effort to force sponsors to drop Rush. It backfired as his ratings took off even higher than his top rated show.

It’s the shows on MSNBC, CNN that are hurting for sponsors. Rachel Madcow, one of their higher rated shows, barely gets enough revenue to stay on the air.

President Trump says “he THINKS” the Russians MAY have hacked the DNC. NO ONE has been able to prove who did. The real question is “who is responsible for the information that was hacked”? Why it’s none other than the Dems themselves! Duh!

Back to the hacking, President Trump also said that someone tried to hack his server, but failed. He added that if the Russians had been successful, they would have released that information.

Name one place that Trump is still in the leadership role on the world stage. NATO doesn’t trust him, Japan is thinking about getting their own nukes because they don’t trust him, We no longer have a seat in climate agreements, the Pacific trade deals, and it looks like the table dealing with Iran. England doesn’t even want him to come visit.

The other leaders of the world trusted Obama, followed his lead and gave him respect. He also didn’t have to make up stories about phone calls. Even out of office Obama has more power then Trump on the world stage.

You just can’t seem to handle the truth. You continue to believe the FAKE MSM lies. I bet you think that no one is supporting President Trump against the NFL. WRONG! Millions are showing signs of support!

The Paris Accord would have cost us trillions!

All the organizations you listed are pissed off because President Trump pulled their financial support out and said the rest of the world can start paying their share too!

obozo was liked because they walked all over him. He gave them what they wanted on his quest to make us a third world nation. Foreigners accepted that the US was NO longer the leader of the free world. They have applauded our return to that title!

obozo has more power? Please indicate what orders he’s given that supports that? With the Mueller investigation revealing the obozo ordered unlawful, politically motivated wire tap orders, obozo will now be the target of indictments.
What power will obozo have from prison?

Did you know Trump broke the law by telling the NFL owners to fire people. 18 U.S. Code § 227

How would you describe a third world country. One that has a very large divide between rich and poor, with a strong military, crumbling infrastructure, unhealthy conditions for the people and where people are being shot in the streets. Add a bully as it’s leader and what do you have? Trump is working on making America Great Again for the very rich at the expense of everyone else.

The obozocare legislation is killing millions! Millions more are dropping insurance because of the outrageous premium increases and yuge deductibles.

The only link you have give is about bias in polling sampling for one polling group and was in response to your made up numbers of Trumps support in Europe and around the world. You should read your own links before you say things. If the voters rejected Clinton then they also rejected Trump just a little more.

Sorry bob, but his ratings have NOTHING to do with the FAKE MSM story. I would challenge your opinion on ratings. FOX is way ahead of MSNBC, CNN , etc. All of Fox’s shows rate higher than even the top shows from the alt-left networks. Rachel Madcow is one of the higher and she’s barely keeping enough sponsors to pay the bills.

This is just like the claim that Rush’s days were numbered because the sponsors were leaving. Rush is going as strong as ever (I personally don’t watch/listen to him).
Hannity, as most shows, have sponsors waiting to get air time.
Sponsors don’t wish to piss of potential customers. They are more protected if they say nothing.
The president of the American Red Cross criticized President Trump and even with Harvey and Irma, their donations have fallen and their blood donors have shrunk! They don’t wish to advertise these facts, but you can bet he’s sorry (and should be fired!) he made his comments.

Hannity’s numbers aren’t very impressive, I sure would waste my ad dollars on him. Rush’s numbers aren’t any better. As I said Sponge Bob gets better ratings. You seem to believe the tabloid conservatives are a large group but in fact it’s a small group. If you want a top rated news show it’s 60 minutes. They have move viewers the Fox News in total.

Fox has been slipping because they have not supported President Trump’s agenda. Doesn’t matter anyway. Why would the left think this story is of value? Because the left is leaderless and are losing middle ground voters in droves. The GOP is raising money in near record numbers and the Dems are collecting money at a record low pace. Why?
I view this story as more FAKE MSM “news”. I don’t watch Hannity (or even Fox for that matter). I gather most of my information from foreign news sources (I live outside the USA almost 6 months a year). They had no problem slamming obozo, while the FAKE MSM just fawned over him.

The foreign press has President Trump’s approval rating over 60% with Millenials approving almost 80%. With his actions on the debt ceiling limit and disaster response, he’s certain to jump up probably 10 more points!

Boy, it seems you just can’t help showing how naive you truly are.
YUP I provided a US link to show how much the US FAKE MSM slants the polls. Yet you low information sheep just blindly accept their FAKE “news”. The FAKE MSM regularly stacks the deck when it comes to the truth. They would have you believe that obozo’s approval was near 60% when the true number was in the mid-to-upper 30%.

Regarding the polls, NO ONE would use a NATIONAL number to predict a presidential election, which is based upon a state-by-state vote. For someone to even suggest that their numbers were correct truly shows a lack of understanding of the poll and election process.

Even Rachel Madcow using, state-by-state numbers, “shows” how off their biased polls were. This is just further examples of how you lefties follow the FAKE MSM polls. For you to say “what’s [my] complaint?” demonstrates you have no idea of the election process and what the true polls should be.

Here’s a great video of queen Rachel and several alt-left “political experts” explaining how Trump had NO CHANCE for victory and that HilLIARY was poised for a landslide win.

When you consider his margin of victory that collapsed the FAKE MSM predictions, no wonder real political experts have named President Trump’s victory a MANDATE!

And for you common core educated lefties, 306 > 227 is NOT HilLIARY winning by 3%! In fact, if the election was held today, President Trump defeats HilLIARY by an even larger margin, and carries the national popular vote, even allowing for the millions of illegal votes tallied for HilLIARy.

Watch and weep for the FAKE MSM believers, like you.

Dude, you’re so ill-educated that you didn’t think the FBI was part of the DOJ, you’re so ridiculous you wouldn’t believe it FOR DAYS even when presented with cast-iron evidence, and you’re so crazy and stupid you argue with javascript for days at a time.

Basically you’re the worst poster here, worse even than Koch brothers racist employee of the month dtgraham.

Hey HELLpy, the Pathetic poster of lies and earner of the title “usually inaccurate”: this message was automatically generated because you expressed interest in purchasing a Donald J. Trump presidential banner.

I see you’re still posting lies and had to change your moniker to keep from being deactivated!
My accuracy rate is still north of 95% and it would appear that yours is still south of 20%.
          You’re such a loser.

So go ahead an FAKE a written response and claim it was a bot. The only bot here is your brain!

It’s about time. Hannity is just one more uneducated right wing blowhard who does not have an iota of expertise in any area. Time wounds all heels

If I knew that a company was supporting Hannity by advertising on his show, I would boycott that company. I can say the same about Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Fox News in general. But since I never watch those TV shows, and never listen to Rush’s radio show, I don’t know what companies are advertising on their shows. I know from other sources that none of those are reliable sources of facts or news, and don’t want to waste my time on them, preferring to get my information from sources that have a reputation for honesty and truthfulness.
