Endorse This: Does Jeb Bush Side With Trump Against The Pope?

Jeb Bush has now taken a stand on the new round of political attacks between Donald Trump and Pope Francis. Jeb’s response to the whole flare-up: The Pope should stay out of this.

“I don’t question anybody’s Christianity, because I honestly believe that that’s a relationship that you have with your Creator,” Jeb said “And it only enables bad behavior when you hear that someone from outside our country talks about Donald Trump.”

Reporters also asked Bush to respond to Francis’ comment, “a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”

“I don’t know what that means,” Jeb responded.

He further explained: “I support walls, fencing where it’s appropriate, sure. I also believe that we ought to have other parts of this: For leading the Border Patrol, using drone technology, using GPS technology, across the board. We ought to have a strategy to protect our border, and that is clear. But that is not an un-Christian thing to do — to make sure people don’t come across our border illegally. That’s a just thing to do.”

Just think: After all the vicious insults that Donald Trump has heaped upon Jeb Bush and his entire family (admittedly, almost all of them true) Jeb can’t even bring himself to side with The Pope against The Donald.

Trump has said “Why do I need to repent or ask God for forgiveness when I am not making mistakes” thus directly contradicting the foundation for Christianity in 1 John 1:8-2:2.

In 1 John 1:8, the Apostle John wrote “If we [John includes himself] say that we have [present tense] no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”

In 1 John 1:10, John wrote that all have sinned, everyone.

In tandem, both declare that all who claim to be Christians must admit they sinned before salvation and that they still sin even after salvation. Trump is clearly deceived…

And to top it off, Trump also irreverently degraded communion/the Eucharist we he compared them to having a “little wine” and a “little cracker.”

I agree with your thesis. But it must be remembered that “sin” is in the eye of the beholder. What’s sin for a christian isn’t necessarily sin for some other faith. There are beliefs in this world that don’t even use the term sin. It must also be remembered that all religions are man made.

      1. ray February 18, 2016

It must also be remembered that all religions are man made. How right you are and that is why I don’t believe in religion.I believe there is a god not a man made one.

        1. jakenhyde February 18, 2016

          Right on, Ray.

    2. plc97477 February 21, 2016

I personally believe that the worse sin is the arrogance to believe you don’t have any sin.

  2. Mortalc01l February 18, 2016

It just goes to show you that right-wing Political dogma is a more virulent strain of the disease of “belief” than even Catholicism. When a Christian sides with a political party, over the living embodiment of the word of God, you know that supposed Christian is in fact the polar opposite of that which he or she professes to be.

Republicanism has become a religion, far greater than any of the Abrahamic ones.

Ever read the book, NEVER AGAIN, by Attorney-General John Ashcroft?
He, not Eric Holder, ordered the RESCUE of illegals!
    Did he exceed his authority?

  4. Nick February 18, 2016

Quoting an American poet Robert Frost; “Good fences make good neighbors.”

    1. jakenhyde February 18, 2016

@Nick…that’s fine for urban housing. But it’s bs when it comes to the whole border of a country. Besides, talk of a fence along the Mexican border is nothing but fluff and feathers so far as the republicans are concerned. Not a one of them…even The Donald….even if he were elected, would really attempt to build that wall. It’s ludicrous on its face and impractical in real terms.

      1. Dominick Vila February 19, 2016

It would also deny “conservative” entrepreneurs easy access to cheap labor to reduce operating costs and increase profits. Immigration law reform is not being rejected because it is not needed, it is being rejected because allowing hundreds of thousands of migrants to enter the USA legally, and work under the protection of U.S. laws, would impact the bottom line of Republican businessmen.

  5. Tony Zoars February 18, 2016

Jeb would side with anyone that might gain him some votes. The last thing Jeb would do is make a public statement that might be unpopular, His whole life has been a poliatical campaign.

  6. Roseann Duchon February 18, 2016

God bless the Pope, our President and our Democratic nominees. IF a Republican gets in the WH, God save the country!

  7. I of John February 18, 2016

This is one of the reasons why JEB is not going to be elected. The most beloved person living in the world today hands the man a means to push back again Trump and JEB…refuses to employ it! Worse yet, he throws that opportunity back in disdain. He isn’t just awkward, he’s an imbecile.

  8. Irishgrammy February 18, 2016

If Jeb does not understand a fairly simple, direct statement from the Pope with a milk toast response “I don’t know what that means”…….well then he REALLY isn’t very smart is he???? Most of us know exactly what Pope Francis means, it is not a “Christian” tenet to denounce and attack immigrants,(those with no power or the least of these) who are desperately seeking a better life, or simply safety and security in the greatest country in the world that is supposed to represent those aspirations/values and not the hateful scapegoating of immigrants and vile insults and lies used to attack, demean and vilify directed towards those immigrants from the horrible Trump and other demagogues on the right!!! Jeb Bush being a Catholic, in any way giving sway to anything coming out of Trumps self serving, vile rhetoric says more about Jeb’s lack of courage and character than Trump being insultingly wrong AGAIN!!! Quite an eye opener indicating Bush’s lack of integrity for all the wrong reasons, to try and not loose a voter from the right, which frankly he was never going to get in the first place.

    1. Dominick Vila February 19, 2016

Bush is a coward fighting for political survival. His political career is over, and he knows it.

  9. Jinmichigan February 19, 2016

Scarborough called the Popes comments “Toxic”, this morning. Pretty funny from the party that has interjected religion into just about every topic over the past couple of decades. Of course the Pope wouldn’t know what’s a Christian. Why should he?
