Green Party Raises $2.5 million For Presidential Recount In Wisconsin

Jill Stein raises money for a recount

MILWAUKEE (Reuters) – Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein on Thursday reached her goal to raise $2.5 million to request a recount in Wisconsin, one of three states where she plans to seek an audit of U.S. presidential election results, her campaign said.

Stein will ask Wisconsin to verify vote totals tallied by electronic machines that her campaign called “highly vulnerable to hacking and malicious reprogramming” in a statement on its website.

She is also trying to raise an additional $2 million to request recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania, where deadlines are next week to file the required paperwork.

Election experts have identified Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania as states where “statistical anomalies” occurred, according to the Stein campaign.

“We deserve elections we can trust,” the campaign said.

Republican Donald Trump beat Democrat Hillary Clinton by slight margins in the three battleground states on his way to an upset in the presidential election on Nov. 8. Leading up to the election, many polls had Clinton defeating Trump.

Although Clinton won the popular vote, Trump is well ahead in Electoral College votes, the determining tally in winning the presidency in the United States. Stein won a little more than 1 percent of the popular vote.

“Our effort to recount votes in those states is not intended to help Hillary Clinton,” the Stein campaign said.

Election experts are calling for Clinton to seek a manual review of paper ballots and voting equipment in the three states, University of Michigan computer science professor J. Alex Halderman wrote in an essay.

Such an examination would “help allay doubt and give voters justified confidence that the results are accurate,” Halderman wrote on Medium.com, a site where users can self-publish articles and essays.

The most likely explanation for the polls wrongly predicting a Clinton win was that they were “systematically wrong” rather than that the election being hacked, he wrote.

It’s very refreshing to see Jill Stein reach out & help pickup the mantle for Hillary Clinton. I’m making a contribution today to help finance the reelection efforts in Wisconsin, Michigan & Pennsylvania. Democracy & the integrity of our elections is on the line & we must find out if this election was a fair one or not

    1. I Am Helpy November 24, 2016

This is absolutely a scam. Do NOT give money to the goddam Greens.

      1. Dan S November 24, 2016

Ok you have my attention. More often than not I usually agree with you so how is this a scam ? I don’t donate unless I feel it’s for a good cause. Having these recounts on the chance these states may have had their votes tampered with is very important. If there’s any chance of keeping Trump out I’d give them everything I have to show that these States may have been hacked with a malware virus. We deserve to make sure that these votes are clean & every vote is counted

        1. I Am Helpy November 24, 2016

The amount of money she’s claiming they’ll need has mysteriously gone up as more came in. She’s already got more than she needs and she has been on Trump’s side since the start.

If anyone is going to pay for a recount, it’ll be Clinton. Do not give money to anti-vaxxers trying to buy themselves credibility.

        2. I Am Helpy November 24, 2016

Oh, and Stein has no legal standing to request a recount in MI in the first place.

        3. LinGin November 25, 2016

That money will be used for qualifying funds for her Presidential run in 2020. It’s just as much a scam as Donald Trump’s “victory.”

        4. Tom S November 25, 2016

Well, Dan, these 2 certainly have no idea as to what they are talking about. LinGin is either a Trumpeter or current version of KGB with more of the ‘fake news’ Putin showered us with.
‘I am Helpy’ has fallen off the edge of the Earth. Filing Fees for the 3 States are $2.2M, PLUS lawyers and watchers and T&L in every county recounted.
Plus, now they are wisely adding in NC and FL, and hopefully OH.

Given the polling results pre-Electon, the number in each of those 6 States are out-of-bounds.
I do not believe this was an upset.
I believe The Donald, “It’s a rigged system, Folks, it’s a rigged system!”.
The Repugs have done it to the Country at least thrice before. We have 2 wars, $Trillions of lost Personal Wealth, extreme Inequality, and $17T in National Debt to show for it.

  2. Tom S November 24, 2016

Actually, Greens have raised $3.5M. However, the filing fees for WI are only $1.1M, MI $0.5M, and PA $0.6M.
I hope they will also go after OH, NC and FL as NC makes no sense, since McCrory has lost, and, of course, FL and OH have ‘priors’ rigging Presidential Elections.
In fact, the Green Party was also the organization to fight that battle to prove that criminality after Kerry folded.

    1. LinGin November 25, 2016

That money is going right into Stein’s pocket to be used for qualifying funds for 2020 where she can screw us again.

      1. Tom S November 25, 2016

Do you have an iota of proof, or is this your inner self telling us what you would do if you had the opportunity?
Yes, we know The Donald would do this.

        1. LinGin November 27, 2016

The disclaimer is right on the fund raising page. Money cannot be guaranteed to be used for the recount. And given that she keeps moving the bar as to how much she needs, she’s going to keep what she can.

          1. Tom S November 27, 2016

The Greens did not have to move the bar because the People had already anted up nearly $4M. Then, they added another State.
Good Stewardship would dictate “to keep (Save) what she can”.

Greens have already filed in WI. If they file in MI and PA. Then, they will have done what she promised.

T&L Expenses for an army of election lawyers, forensic accountants and IT folks, and count watchers will be required.

            Hillary has finally bought in.

We know that Preibus, Walker, Snyder, McCrory and Scott are all #CorruptRepubs. Preibus held a Presser today telling all who would listen how this was a Fraud. He sounded like he was Guilty.

If you would rather have the Orange Hitler, then just admit that you are a Trumpeter. IF Not, get in the Fight.

          2. LinGin December 3, 2016

Another white guy telling me what I should do. No thanks. I’ve got a mind of my own. I’ll fight how and when I choose.

          3. Tom S December 8, 2016

I instantly noticed that you were SOOOooo much Smarter than everybody else.
            Good Luck standing alone.

  3. missygreen November 24, 2016

It’s been 1 yr since I decided to leave my previous job and that decision changed everything for me… I started to work over internet, for a company I stumbled upon online, for a few hrs every day, and I make much more than i did on my office job… My last month pay-check was for 9 thousand bucks… Awesome thing about this gig is the more free time i got to spend with my family… http://chilp.it/728813e

  4. iamproteus November 24, 2016

Why isn’t Trump supporting the recounts? If he is comfortable with the “win”, he shouldn’t have any qualms, should he?

  5. Godzilla November 24, 2016

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

    1. I Am Helpy November 24, 2016

      OK sorry you hate democracy.

      It’s part and parcel of being a dim-witted woman-hating racist, I guess.

    2. Tom S November 25, 2016

zilla, it’s just a matter of thrice burned. Thank God Jill Stein stepped forward!
