As his Party, the Republican Party does so much better the fewer people that vote. The less small d democracy involved, the better for the Republican Party. It is fact. The harder it is for people to prove they’re qualified to vote, and to get to the polls to express their opinion where it counts. For Republicans across the board, prior electoral results show, fewer voters lead to more favorable Republican outcomes. So the decision to not extend the deadline for voter registration is the kind of politics that lead to more power for the small minority of special interests that fund the campaigns, and make the system work for the rich. Now if you support that, you may either stay home, or vote your straight Republican Ticket. Either one gets you there.
Toss-Pot of a governor .
Rick Scott is way out of line with his comments. The hurricane has been being tracked for close to two weeks, Florida was right along it’s path. To say Floridians had enough time to register or vote early is complete BS. Maybe people had different priorities like making arrangements to get out of the path of the storm. As important as voting is, I’d
vote to stay alive first and foremost.
Why is it ok in one state for registrations to take place even on election day, but not in others? For national elections there should be a single standard.

America: Best Democracy in the world.
Except where one of it’s parties sees no issue with suppressing the votes of it’s actual citizens, or, in this case, deftly avoiding making it easier for American Citizens to register to vote.
Here’s the $64 question:
What is the downside of increasing access to Registration by extending the deadline?
A better democracy?
More Floridians able to exercise their right to vote?
When one party thinks the right to vote is there to be gamed, twisted, altered or blocked to give electoral advantage you don’t have much of a Democracy.
You can smell the desperation though.
What the general suppression strategy means is this:
1) Republicans are scared to death that, if every American citizen that wanted to cast a vote was able to cast a vote, they would be finished.
2) They know their policies target and damage minorities and the poor, and they only care when it’s election time… when they demonstrate their knowledge by attempting to stop those same groups from voting.
who would have thought that a Republican would be so shamelessly open about hating democracy, aside from anyone paying attention for the last forty years?
