Megyn Kelly, New Face Of NBC News, Withheld Vital Information During The Election

The new face of NBC News spent the final months of the presidential campaign withholding vital information about Donald Trump, revealing it only in the book she published days after the election.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly has been hired away by NBC, where she will play “a triple role in which she will host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and take regular part in the network’s special political programming and other big-event coverage.”

There are many reasons to be concerned with Kelly’s move, among them her history of using white racial anxiety to bolster her career, her willingness to defend and promote anti-gay “hate groups,” and her ability to use a patina of unearned credibility to push out the same right-wing lies that her Fox colleagues spout. But among them must certainly be her decision to wait until after the election to reveal key facts about Trump’s interactions with her network.

In her book, Settle for More, Kelly writes that she learned Trump had inside information from Fox about the question she would ask him at the first Republican primary debate. She confirms that during the campaign, former network chairman Roger Ailes was shilling for more positive coverage of the now president-elect. She reports that she was “offered gifts” by Trump “clearly meant to shape coverage,” and details numerous death threats she received after Trump attacked her in interviews and on Twitter, which led her to hire security guards, and a Fox executive to warn to Trump’s lawyer that “If Megyn Kelly gets killed, it’s not going to help your candidate.”

None of this came out during the campaign — in fact, Kelly plugged her book in May by stating, “For the first time, I’ll speak openly about my year with Donald Trump.” “There are times,” The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple writes of the book, “when Kelly all but smacks the reader in the face with her scoop-preservation strategy.”

Kelly defends her conduct by saying she was prioritizing her family’s safety. That’s a valid reason to stay silent about the threats of violence from Trump supporters, but not to hide Trump’s bribes or efforts inside the network to support him.

Reporters have a responsibility to provide news when it matters to the American people, not when the news is most convenient for their books sales. It’s unfortunate that NBC News doesn’t seem to agree.

Must be nice to get out of that pro-Trump, sexual harassment hell hole!

If the number of electoral votes per state was determined by the states educational ranking, Hillary Clinton would have had the top ten states, Donald J. Trump would have had zero.

Apparently Obama’a success in office wasn’t good enough for them. RECORD unemployment numbers, legalized gay marriage, 5% growth, best year for jobs since 1999, consumer confidence up, deficit down 60% in 2014, gas prices low, health insurance cheaper than ever ($85/month), car insurance cheaper than ever ($25/month from Insurance Panda), the 1% starting to be taxed more!

    I weep for our country.

This is so sad. America was suppose to be about freedom and feeling safe. NOW Everyone is terrified.

Did you also help with the redistricting of voting maps that ONLY took place in Republican states? You cannot seriously think you and your ilk have gotten away with election rigging. The Russian hacking is the tip of the iceberg and you know it.

Why else were the Republicans in such a hurry to get rid of the Ethics Board when they would have refused to do that when they were all so busy smearing Hillary in Benghazi and EmailGate. Your turn now buddy boy..Let’s see how you boys do in front of the SC when you have to answer for all that gaming of the election process.

Suddenly TX has 34 electors? Is that based on a huge increase in the population? YOu better hope it does. And you better hope every one of those Republican states can justify the increase in electors with an increase in their state populations. We already know that the northeastern states in the NY/NJ Metro area and DC are the most densely population per square mile. So you bet your boodle you better have proof. Because now we will DEMAND to see that proof. Games over boys.

Apparently that went in one ear and out the other because they just didn’t realize he was confessing to them that he has NO plans on acting on most of the promises that he made to them!

Is that why it’s 10 GOP-run states that have been voted the most miserable?? (And note all 10 have high rates of unemployment and poverty.)

Indiana ranks No. 3 in ‘most miserable states’ list (Governed by the new VP Pence.)

NDIANAPOLIS – For all of the positive national press Indiana,
Kentucky and Ohio seem to receive on a regular basis, a recent breakdown of the Gallup-Healthways 2014 Well-Being Index makes the region look less appealing.

Analyzed by Yahoo’s 24/7 Wall St. blog, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio landed among the nation’s 10 most miserable states, according to key measures of the index.

Areas such as poverty, unemployment, obesity, mental health, smoking habits, vaccination and insufficient sleep were highlighted in Yahoo’s ranking.

Indiana fared worse than Ohio, ranking number 3 on the list with a 31.8 percent obesity rate, among other measures.

Ohio ranked fourth on the list that also included Tennessee, Missouri, Michigan, Alabama, Arkansas and West Virginia.

For Ohio that meant a 16 percent poverty rate, 7.4 percent unemployment rate, 30.4 percent obesity rate, and 23.4 percent of adults with a smoking habit.

Neither state could beat Kentucky with its 18.8 percent poverty rate, 8.3 percent unemployment, and 33.2 percent obesity rate.

As a matter of fact, the only state to do so was West Virginia, a state that sat at the top of Yahoo’s worst list for six years, with a 35.1 percent obesity rate.

            http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/indiana-takes-top-honors-in-most-miserable-states-list

And note that was for 2014 – in 2015 it’s basically the same but Ohio was #2 and Indiana still #3.

Yes…and what is going around right now is rage that you and your ilk assumed you can get away with rigging an election. This is not about Hillary now. It is about our Constitutional voting rights to clean and transparent elections. You stepped over the line and what comes around for you right wingers now is 74 million very angry voters who feel your gaming of the system has gone as far as it is going to go. Be prepared for blowback like you have NEVER seen before. You asked for it…now you get it.

You mean rigging the election like the Democrats? Hillary got the popular vote primarily through illegal votes. The DNC rigged the primary or Bernie Sanders would have been facing Trump (and probably would have won). Please provide evidence of how the system was rigged for Trump – even intelligence officials in Obama’s administration say the vote wasn’t hacked. There may have been influence because of the wikiLeaks, but turnabout is fair play considering how Hillary and Obama interfered in so many ways over in other nations. You must be one of these liberals who want the EC abolished because Hillary lost. NO THANK YOU. We don’t want a small handful of highly populous states choosing the president every four years.

You seriously believe the false news about Hillary getting illegal votes? Seriously? According to Trump, most of these so-called “illegal” votes were from California, which, by the way, is a BIG Democratic state and has voted Democrat for years! We also have a very good governor who was extremely careful to make sure that all the voters were voting legally! So, I’m not sure where you think all those “illegal” votes that you read about in the false news stories (check Politicheck or FactFinder.com), came from but you got it all wrong! Continue to believe everything you read even when it’s clearly false! Typical lazy uber-conservative!

Zoe, the Dems just elected Senator Charles Schumer head of the Democratic Senate leadership. That is HUGE trouble for Trump and the Republicans. Schumer is one of the most capable men to deal with Trump since both Trump and Schumer are New Yorkers and Schumer knows Trump and can control him very easily.

As for the Republicans, once the dirt hits the fan that Ryan not only knew all about the Russian hacking but did nothing, he will be forced to resign in disgrace…that’s why they re-elected him as Speaker…so he will be forced to resign in disgrace.

Would suggest that we put off looking at 2020 and instead look at those State and local elections this year and next.

Because, distasteful as it is, the trolls are right, and the last 6 years have been remarkably tough on our Party.

We’ve just seen what a “President Only” policy leads us. We need to get back to the 50+1 strategy.

I wasn’t aware of that, thank you. All I know is that we have to fight the GOP and start working hard to elect Democrats. I think after a year or so with Trump and his cronies, even the “deplorables” will be ready to get rid of him! Once they see their health care decimated and the Congress working to get rid of Medicare and Social Security, they might finally see the light!

But we can’t count on the RWMO doing anything to discredit Trump. The best quote I heard was that with the recent news personality moves; NBC is becoming Fox and Fox is becoming Pravda. We can’t count on the Lamestream Media condemning Trump either.

We can’t count on “anti-Trump” or “anti-Republican”. We have to have a message of our own. We have to push that message. Because politics is a team sport and we win or lose as a team.

Trump is of course a sick puke, as are all Cons. But let’s not kid ourselves about Obama and the Democratic Party. Perhaps you should drill a little deeper in to those economic numbers. For the majority Americans those number little to nothing. In fact if you look county by county you will find that the majority of the counties have had no “recovery” at all. And please understand that I’m not an ignorant sick Con, in fact my issues have very little to do with Obama or even Hillary or any one person, the problems are structural and failing to understand and address them only leads to worsening conditions. We need something much better than Trump for certain but we need something much better than Obama and what the Dems have offered so far as well.

Kakistocracy is a socio-economic system run by unscrupulous people. It is applies to state governments run by unscrupulous people.
Obviously, there is more to Trump’s victory than unscrupulous traits, but it is nevertheless an appropriate term to describe what is happening in some states…and the cynicism of those who claim to be Christians, patriots, and objective citizens.

The only reason CEOs weren’t contributing to Trump’s campaign is because they had a brain and knew he couldn’t win a fair election. They didn’t realize that when Trump kept harping on it being a rigged election, that Trump knew it was rigged in his favor. The fact they didn’t want to take a chance at throwing away their money on what should have been a hopeless campaign doesn’t mean they weren’t rooting for him to win.

Did you see Ford’s announcement today where the CEO has decided to spend about 1 billion on a new facility in the U.S, instead of going to Mexico because Trump won the election and he thinks Trump will rig legislation to favor corporations?

Just for the record Dominick, I think Kelly’s shift to NBC was negotiated by Rupert Murdoch as a way to expand his right-wing propaganda machine. NBC has partnered a number of times over the past several years on polls with Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal – knowing fully well that WSJ’s polls are going to be right-wing biased. So those running NBC are no strangers to publishing right-wing biased propaganda. In fact, I think it was an NBC/WSJ poll that predicted a Romney landslide victory back in 2012.

For the RWMO ratings and profits are secondary to controlling the message. That’s why so many Radical Rich continue to lose money owning media outlets.

To “Objective Journalists” there is a pride and emotional satisfaction aspect of getting the story right and earning the respect of one’s colleagues.

I agree; however, many of our journalists work for RW media groups….either that, or they’re afraid that Trump will sue them, which he won’t be able to do so readily once he’s president. But, he CAN try to go against the Constitution and the First Amendment. He’s already stated that he’s going to try to change the law so that if he thinks a newspaper has libeled him, he can shut them down. We have to make sure our Democratic congressmen/women don’t allow him to do this against our Constitution!

Sometimes I think the general public forgets that celebrity personas are “built” and not born. In show business, if you don’t have “schtick,” you go no where.

When Trump was elected, the country ended up with a Reality TV Celebrity who is like an entry level employee who now has to be trained to understand why he cannot lord it over the FBI or CIA, get rid of the EPA, take all the money out of the Treasury he pleases and generally break every rule regarding presidential conflict of interest.

Why in holy hell would Trump be beholden to the U.S. Constitution when in his view it unfairly targets men like him who want it all and want it yesterday? Why would he care about equality for any American when that equality is a direct hit on his ability to screw over his employees as his reputation has already shown?

The reality TV BS is a farce that is well choreographed, scripted and prerehearsed so that a bunch of middle aged muttonheaded nobodies can pretend they are “rock stars.”

When it comes to the media today, very little of it can be trusted to be factual, unrehearsed and unscripted. Is that news? Or is it brainwashing by a bunch of geezer control freaks like Murdoch who already has one foot in the grave or Assange, the man without a country because he can’t be truthful if his life depends on it.

Well I can answer part of that.. Take reality TV.. I was alive when the soaps overwhelmed the networks and in my family alone I could see that with every episode, as well as ditties like Dr, Kildare, My three sons, Petticoat Junction, etc. it was to the viewer life as they envisioned but could never achieve and as time went by more and more pseudo realities like Dallas drew in newer generations. The reason most viewers saw these coms as entertainment was because they were broadcast way before they were born or interested but within the last few decades this new age reality has mesmerized the new generations, not because their more real but because people have always looked for something in life that only the boob tube can supply and with it they, like their predecessors, have replaced reality with reality TV.. Small wonder that Trump achieved what he sat out to do.. He became the first reality TV performer to breach the reality that we all live in and now most can’t tell the difference between the two. Somebody won big time, we just don’t know who.

One of Fox’s lethal viral agents, Megyn, has been transferred to NBC, and similar transgenic cross-overs are occurring with Trump’s insertion into the Presidency along with Cabinet choices. No doubt the superficial in America will be duped by what they consider her good looks—as though that is singularly important in defining acceptability and objective thinking.
Megyn is only in the business of journalism to further herself and further enhance her image, much in the Trumpian mold, and for that NBC has shown that it too has succumbed to an epidemic of materialism and banality. Objectivity is tossed aside and visceral and gut reactionary responses are put in its place with this additional move by media outlets.

With Putin-like precision, America is deftly being transformed bit by bit. Thanks, NBC, CNN, Breitbart, FOX, etc.

No Senate and governor races aren’t affected by gerrymandering but 24/7 propaganda brainwashing of politically ignorant voters by the right-wing propaganda machine does affect voting. And when that’s helped by Russians feeding lies upon lies to the American public via wiki leaks creating and supporting one conspiracy theory after another against Hillary and Obama – all of which has clearly been exposed in recent days; that does impact election results. As does the untimely release of nonsensical accusations about email use by Hillary by just one more pathological lying republican that Obama mistakenly let get control of the FBI.

As I’ve said many times: given their terrible record of governance, and clear evidence that Republican politicians are nothing but gangsters akin to the Italian Mafia masquerading as politicians, the only way they can win is by some form of cheating or by flooding the American public with 24/7 lies and conspiracy theories to brainwash the electorate; all of which the GOP has done in excess since Obama has been in office.

More Americans have signed up for Obamacare for 2017 than at any previous time!!

With dependents and those now supported by Medicaid expansion, more than 30 million Americans have insurance this year WHO WOULDN’T HAVE INSURANCE WITHOUT ACA !!! And the uninsured rate has hit the lowest point in American history!!

And if the GOP crooks in Congress repeal Obamacare, projections are that 36,000 people will start dying prematurely because of just one more murderous thing the GOP is willing to do!!

Republicans are murdering around 2,000 people a month already in the 20 GOP-run states that have refused to expand Medicaid!!

You are a pathological lying fool!!!!! On top of abetting MURDER!!!! AND THAT’S PREMEDITATED MURDER!!!!

The Auto bailout did not make a profit with respect to the total return on the monies actually invested – it fell about 10 billion short. However, all the investments that GWB and Obama negotiated to bring the economy back from the Great Recession ended up making about 60 billion in profits everything considered – still making that investment the best investments America has ever made in a recovery.

But even the auto bailout was one of the most profitable investments ever made by American taxpayers when you factor in the well over 150 billion AMERICAN auto industry related companies have paid to our government in tax revenues since the bailout. And the fact that over 1.5 million auto-industry related Americans didn’t lose their jobs and continued paying billions in taxes rather than drawing billions in unemployment. And rather than having allowed the auto industry to be bought out by Romney and his unAmerican investor friends like Singer that Romney tried so hard to have Obama do when he kept harping about letting the industry go bankrupt; thereby shifting the corporate taxes these company have paid America now into going to foreign governments instead.

Had the industry gone belly up, Romney and Singer would have bought out GM and Chrysler and shipped them overseas like they did with Delphi (previously known as Delco), the auto industry’s largest small parts maker. Delphi had 25,000 workers here which Romney and Singer destroyed – shipping all the union related jobs overseas where today the company employs about 100,000 in China, Mexico and some Far East countries.

So much made up “facts”. The bailout and TARP both lost millions of dollars. NONE of these programs made a profit. Obama is just using the numbers spent during his terms and not the total amount paid.
The 1.5 million saved jobs is also a false number. The surviving auto makers would have had to purchase additional supplies and hire more workers to meet the demand for the vehicles that GM and FCA would not have been making.
You certainly have not taken anything that resembles a business class. Don’t bother to make that fake claim now, your own comments show that if you did take a class, that you slept through it.

And locally, a record number on food stamps; record number on welfare; annual growth <2%; race relations the worst in 40-50 years; 95 million Americans not working; a healthcare system that has premiums rising faster than anytime in history and still 11% without insurance. Obama has been the most divisive president in history! His rankings show him to be 31-38, same category as GW, BUT ahead of Carter. Some legacy!
Like President Trump asked "since the Dems have failed so miserably, what have you got to lose by draining the swamp"?

Just won’t own up to the fact that the right-wingers stole the election will you!! CNN’s exit polling have never been corrupted so badly and the only explanation is someone stole the election and it wasn’t the liberals!!!

Trump didn’t win legally AND YOU KNOW IT!!!

            Where’s the evidence?
Why isn’t obama/hillary in court if the evidence you think is so strong?

Mike, you are so right on target! I just posted to ID1 about all the voter fraud in the attempted MI recount.
He’s certainly in meltdown mode and in self-denial.

Keep up the good posts. Giving them facts just causes them to run in circles, like a dog getting ready to take a crap.

They all have their panties in a wad. The anger, hostility, snarky, bile, over th top comments is so typical of the left.
Their mad at trump and those who voted for him but totally ignore who got them in this mess. Obama, Hillary and democratic leadership blew the election. They were clueless even after defeats in 2010 and 2014. State losses were ignored but they still headed down the same old road to defeat.

But it’s you who is posting lies, just as you’ve been caught doing all along.
The only voter fraud was on the part of the Dems! Yet, your low information news sources keep saying there was no voter fraud.
OK, have it your way, President Trump won because of cheating and paying bribes. Oh well, he’s STILL WON and in a MANDATE-size margin of victory and you lefty dummies can’t figure out how they did it!
Oh go have a good cry!

The truth is that the public grew weary of all the LIES the left has spewed for 8 years. President Trump has PERSONALLY created more jobs and PERSONALLY created more jobs in 6 weeks than Obama did in 8 years!
And you wonder why the majority of voters threw his ass out.

Because as you even admitted, without some form of documented voting, like actual voting cards, it’s impossible to prove the cheating when all that’s being used are touch screen voting machines that red states have put out for voting which right-wing leaning companies have built with the built in processors that would allow someone to manipulate the vote.

So it becomes even more clear why so many red states have so drastically reduced the voting venues, it’s not just for voter suppression, its so they can control the voting a lot easier and don’t need so many corrupt individuals like you and your buddies here to manipulate the votes being cast.

Yesterday before senate committee Clapper said “no hacking” that changed election.

He never said any such thing. He said Russians were passing emails to wikileaks (which could have influenced voters). What Clapper actually said was that he was not in a position to make a judgement on whether the hacking affected or didn’t affect the election.

            Just more of your lies!!

And yet in the report to Trump said: However, Trump and the intelligence community seemed to find some common ground after the briefing. Both Trump and the report said the Russians did not target vote tallying.
            Page 3 of report
Russian Cyber Intrusions Into State and Local Electoral Boards. Russian intelligence accessed elements of multiple state or local electoral boards. Since early 2014, Russian intelligence has researched US electoral processes and related technology and equipment.
 DHS assesses that the types of systems we observed Russian actors targeting or compromising are not involved in vote tallying.

            Wrong again!

You’re still in meltdown mode and in self-denial. President

Trump got a MANDATE from the voters. The MI attempted recount revealed mass fraud in favor of HilLIARy. The same claim was made in 2012 and the MSM lied to cover it up. The poll workers in MI claim they have been stuffing the ballot boxes for Dems for several elections. They never anticipated a recount and were caught red-handed this time.
But I suspect that HilLIARy receiving MORE votes than there were voters is not considered ballot stuffing to your low information crowd.

The only dummy who believes you is that racist and bigot, dpaano. We’ve shown you have zero understanding of business and now you’re working on your lack of math skills.

Let’s see 304>227! What don’t you understand about that? And 30 red states = 60%. And of the top 10 most populous states, President Trump won 7 = 70%! If you discount CA, where the land of fruits and nuts voted for HiLIARy by 4 million, President Trump won the national popular vote by 1.5 million.
No matter how you slice it, President Trump (doesn’t that sound wonderful!) received a MANDATE from the voters.

All we have to do is stick to the facts. They rely on lies and thus have trouble keeping their “facts” straight. And they wonder why social-psychologists call them low information.

Not surprising. TV news is not about the facts, it’s all about ratings. NBC gave us the reality president with the Apprentice, Brian Williams and now their next installment, Megyn Kelly. Accurate information on issues and politics died because of the Internet and TV. If you want true journalism, buy a newspaper.

Since I avoid Fox (Faux) News like the plague, I never did know much about the various talking heads on that viciously biased network. I’d only hear bits and pieces from the repeats of other talking heads on other networks. And, I admit, I lumped them all in one pile – biased and untruthful, the women hired mainly on their looks.
However, when I was asked by the organization Freedom to Marry to speak at a theater function in New York, one of my “co-speakers” was Megyn Kelly. I wondered what this pundit of the ultra right could possibly have to say about a liberal cause like freedom for all to marry. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! My 83 year old brain can’t remember word for word what she had to say, but I do remember the most socially liberal speech imaginable. This was compounded by the fact that she was extremely active in an LGBT civil rights organization, including hosting the meetings in her own home.
I’m not a single cause Liberal – I proudly call myself a Liberal in all respects, certainly in all social causes, so I don’t bring this up to excuse what her past broadcast “sins” might have been. I DO bring this up to show that there’s a fiercely social liberal in that lady, and at least that part of her should not be relegated to the extreme right troll factory.

How can we trust this sleaze? Has her attitude while on Fox changed? In which way? I would doubt it no matter what she says but of course the public will forgive and forget, after all she’s one of real TV’s darlings and as we know.. Real TV is very real to the boob tube zombies.
