Polls: Trump Ahead In Tuesday Contests. Will It Hold?

Republicans are voting in four more states on Tuesday — and Donald Trump could be on the verge of another round of victories, according to the polls.
In the state of Michigan:
- Monmouth University has Trump in front with 36 percent, Cruz at 23 percent, Kasich 21 percent, and Rubio 13 percent.
- The Mitchell Research/Fox 2 Detroit poll has Trump at 42 percent, Kasich 20 percent, Cruz 19 percent, and Rubio 9 percent.
- CBS News/YouGov has Trump at 39 percent, Cruz 24 percent, Rubio 16 percent, and Kasich 15 percent.
- American Research Group is the odd man out: Kasich 33 percent, Trump 31 percent, Cruz 15 percent, and Rubio 11 percent.
And in Mississippi, a poll last week from GOP-aligned firm Magellan Strategies had Trump at 41 percent, Cruz 17 percent, Rubio 16 percent, and Kasich 8 percent, along with Ben Carson (who was still in the race at this time) with 5 percent.
It should be noted that the thresholds to receive GOP delegates from these states are both 15 percent — and Marco Rubio is yet again in serious danger of missing out.
There has not been any current polling of the Idaho primary or the Hawaii caucuses.
One word of caution: The polls leading into this past Saturday’s contests showed Trump way ahead in Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisiana. But in fact, Cruz vastly exceeded those expectations and won the Kansas caucuses in a landslide, and Trump only narrowly held on to victories in the Kentucky caucuses and Louisiana primary. (Cruz also won the caucuses in the state of Maine.)

The fact that Donald Trump is the de facto Republican nominee is no longer in question. What is very much in question is the logic of Marco Rubio remaining in the race. The worst embarrassment for the Florida senator is the likelihood of losing his own state, and the fact that the GOP thought he was the establishment savior. I would not be surprised if Kasich drops out, even if he wins Ohio.
The reality of not having a brokered convention, which would only guarantee the rage of Trump’s supporters, and a Democratic victory, is likely to be sinking in.
Florida will be the end of Rubio.
Maybe…..
If Rubio does not pull off a win there he is done.
A brokered convention and Mitt Romney rides in on his white horse to snag the nomination and save the day! Of course it really is Ann Romney’s white horse but its still a moving sight! The reality of ceding their party to the segregationists and tea baggers is sinking in!
I would HATE to see either Trump OR Cruz win the nomination. Cruz wants to do away with the IRS, abolish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, abolish the Commerce Department, and abolish the Energy Dept. He also wants to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, which most states have said they do NOT want going through their states. Again, when do the Republicans start listening to the people (who actually OWN the government according to the Constitution) and STOP listening to their fatcat lobbyists and corporate interests?
The first government agency on his list of evil targets is the Environmental Protection Agency. Not surprising considering the tragedy in Flint…
True, even Rubio sounds somewhat tame compared to Trump and Cruz! If either of them get elected president, this entire country will go down the tubes….just my opinion.
