The Saudi Hypocrisy Behind Trump’s Muslim Ban

Share
Saudi kingdom's financial power protects terrorism

Last Friday, President Trump delivered on one of his most controversial campaign pledges by banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. He claims that the ban will protect America from terrorists. Yet, shockingly, the ban doesn’t include citizens of arguably the world’s largest exporter of “Islamic” terror—the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, home of 15 of the 9/11 hijackers and global financier of the extremist Wahhabi sect of Islam.

Why isn’t the Kingdom on the list? The reason is as simple as it is disturbing: Saudi leaders have helped the president and his friends make billions. Now, thanks to Trump, a Syrian widow and her children, running for their lives, will encounter a locked door in America — while a Saudi oil tycoon kicks back and relaxes at Trump Tower.

For decades, Saudis have spent billions to support schools, charities, mosques, and nonprofits that suppress pluralism and promote their corrupted, extremist form of Islam, which has done so much to defame the vast majority of peace-loving and tolerant Muslims, both here and around the world. In keeping with this mission, the Saudis have directly and indirectly financed the same Islamic terror organizations American troops have been fighting since the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. As a 2002 Pentagon briefing put it: “The Saudis are active at every level of the terror chain, from planners to financiers, from cadre to foot-soldier, from ideologist to cheerleader.”

Worst of all, Western governments have been caught up in the Saudi export of violence from the very beginning. The British helped install the Saud family as the monarchs of Arabia after World War I, and the royal family surely wouldn’t still be ruling today if not for American military and political support. Once the California Arabian Standard Oil Company (today known as Aramco) struck oil in 1938, the Saudi rulers became our key economic, political, and military partner in the Middle East.

To protect this partnership, the Kingdom has purposefully expanded its financial ties to the United States over the years. Riyadh has invested $750 billion in the U.S. economy, including many placements in bedrock Wall Street funds and U.S. securities. Saudi Arabia is now the world’s largest purchaser of U.S.-manufactured arms. And just last June the Kingdom made news by investing $3.5 billion in Uber, the largest investment ever made in a privately held company.

The list of Wall Street banks, private equity firms, and hedge funds with extensive fundraising operations in Saudi Arabia reads like a “Who’s Who” of American business, including major firms from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to Blackstone and BlackRock. All these corporations are unwittingly helping to fund Saudi Arabia’s expansion of extremism.

Not surprisingly, Trump is continuing this awful partnership with the Saudis. But this time, it’s for an even more self-centered reason—they help keep him rich.

Take the Trump World Tower, a luxury skyscraper just across the street from the United Nations in Manhattan. In 2001, the Kingdom paid Trump $4.5 million to buy the building’s 45th floor. Since then, the Kingdom has paid Trump over $85,000 annually for building amenities. For years, Trump even had two Saudi princes living in his multi-million dollar condominiums.

During last year’s campaign, Trump opened eight new companies in Saudi Arabia—an almost unbelievable conflict of interest. “Saudi Arabia, I get along great with all of them. They buy apartments from me,” he told an Alabama crowd over the summer. “They spend $40 million, $50 million. Am I supposed to dislike them? I like them very much.”

Why is Trump’s complex web of hidden connections and conflicts of interest so detrimental to our national interest? The Saudi connection is a perfect example.

First, this relationship proves that Trump’s bans are not only un-American and misguided, but hypocritical. Blocking refugees and immigrants from poor Muslim countries will not prevent terror, but excluding Saudi Arabia from the list makes the new policy little more than a self-enriching dog whistle.

Second, it reinforces the pattern of the Saudi relationship. When Americans support U.S. companies that do business with Saudi Arabia, that helps the Kingdom export its radical agenda and suppress pluralism. And when we elect politicians supported by the Saudis, we make it easier for them to avoid accountability for empowering organizations that spread terror around the world. Once again, we’re being sold out by our elites—and as much as Trump doesn’t want to publicly admit it, he’s now one of them.

For over a thousand years, Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived peacefully under Muslim rule in the Middle East. When Spain expelled hundreds of thousands of Jews in 1492, the Islamic Ottoman Sultan welcomed them with open arms and laughed at the Spanish King Ferdinand’s idiocy. How could anyone think Ferdinand was wise, he asked, when he “impoverished his own land and enriched ours?”

In the years ahead, we can learn much from the Sultan’s lesson. Saudi Arabia’s influence has poisoned peaceful coexistence and served to turn millions of innocents into refugees. Thanks to Trump, we’re now helping those who caused that suffering, while locking out the people — many of them our friends and allies — who need to rebuild.

The fact that Saudi Arabia, the homeland of Osama bin Laden, the Wahhabi sect princes that financed 9/11, and 15 of the 19 terrorists responsible for that tragedy, is only part of the equation. One of the other terrorists was from Egypt and another from the United Aab Emirates, two other countries where Trump has sizable investments or is trying to invest. Another country exempted from the ban is Pakistan, the country where the San Bernardino and Orlando ancestors were from. It almost seems as if the now infamous ban purposely left out citizens of the countries that have attacked us, and focused on those where Sunni-Shia violence remains in the Middle East and Persian Gulf. When it comes to terrorist attacks in Europe, most of the terrorists were born in Europe, and their parents were from Morocco and Algiers, two countries not included in the ban. With this in mind, it is hard to ignore the distinct probability that the exclusion of countries with a clear record of terrorism was not caused by ignorance, but by imperatives that transcend reality and logic. BTW, Saudi Arabia also invests large sums of money in the USA, and buys lots of U.S. Treasury bonds that help offset our fiscal irresponsibility, and strengthen the value of our currency.

Yes, one article I read, claims that there is no record of one immigrant coming to America from the six or 7 nations on Trump’s travel ban having ever been recorded as killing even one American over the past 3-4 decades; whereas there’s a history of immigrants from at least 4 of the 7 Muslim-dominate nations Trump hasn’t included in the ban having killed well over 3,000 Americans during those decades.

Which makes it somewhat clear to me that Trump’s/Bannon’s intent on putting this travel ban on, had nothing to do with reducing the potential for a terrorist attack- it’s my thoughts that their intent has been as a diversion to take the pressure of from the travesty of the executive orders that Trump has been signing feverishly since the travel ban was enacted.

For example, have you seen any outrage over the fact that Trump signed an EO taking America out of the Paris Accord on climate change? And that right-wingers are investigating ethics violations against John Lewis?

And what makes things more scary, is that Trump’s travel ban is exactly what al Qaeda and ISIS have been looking for to boost their failing recruitment efforts; and 4 or 5 of those 7 nations Trump hasn’t included in the ban have very active al Qaeda and ISIS cells. Which seems to me, has greatly increased the probability of something similar to 9/11 happening again in the not too distant future as Trump has really heightened the probability of another terrorist attack.

Honestly, I am not surprised by the indifference of so many Americans to pull out of the Paris Accord, and by so doing become an irresponsible pariah at a time when the rest of the world is doing everything it can to mitigate the effects of global warming. The same goes for the retaliation against John Lewis, marginalizing media outlets that challenge Trump, and other violations of the First Amendment. An interesting development covered by the foreign media involves the EU decision to call Trump “a threat to the EU”; and repeated concerns voiced over what many consider the emergence of neo-fascism in the USA.

While immigrants from 4 of the Muslim-dominate nations not included Trump’s ban from the same geographical region having been responsible for killing more than 3,000 Americans?? Showing clearly that this travel ban has got nothing to do with protecting America from a terrorist attack??

Yes, it’s quite interesting to see this tactic of diversion being used so successfully by Conservatives in the past, and masterfully employed by Trump—even Spicer has picked it up quickly. Quite amusing.

Their strategy hasn’t been lost on the various trolls on the Internet either, who’ve learned the same tactic to change whatever the conversation or issue is.

Trump didn’t include Pakistan or Yemen. He included only those countries Putin approved. That’s why he is always on the phone with Putin. A direct violation of Article III, Sec. 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

Right now, he is displaying his usual childish spiteful brazenness and defying several federal court judges who are warning him that his immigration policies ARE in fact directed at “religion” because every time he opens his mouth, out comes the word “Muslim.”

So I guess since Mommy Mary Ann was a Scottish immigrant, we should ban all Scots because they drink too damn much and are as cheap as they come? Trump loves to dish out the criticisms but that ego of his is so thin skinned, that he now has more enemies in the US than he imagines.

The only REASON those 6 are NOT involved is because Trump has businesses in ALL 6. This wasn’t about the Muslims. If ever you worked in a large corporation as I have, you’d know the only thing on ANY CEOs mind is how to generate billions in profit. So, Trump knows those 6 countries are allies of Putin and will do what Putin wants…provide the oil Russia needs in order to rank ahead of China which is NEVER going to happen. The only reason Putin needed to take control of Trump was because it would increase the population of Russia. That still isn’t going to upend China’s No. 2 position of having the largest economy.

Trump didn’t include Pakistan. Why? Pakistan hid more al Qaeda terrorists than Iraq EVER did. But, by choosing those 7 countries Trump was adhering to Russia’s need to be the No. 1 World economy by taking using the 6 competitor countries and banning the other 7. Sorry pallie if you are not intelligent enough to smell hostile takeover in Big Oil. Some of us are just more educated and far more intelligent and are not fooled by Trump’s little hostile takeover games.

When he said he was going to “blow up the establishment,” you asses interpreted that to mean anyone who didn’t fall in line with your dumbass ideology. That only shows just how stupid the right wingers are. To a corporate Titan of Trickery like Trump, “the establishment” is the government who lobbed 151 fines on his ass and refused to allow him to get away with grifting and thieving. To him, “establishment” is “govenment.”

You are involved in the worst scheme to takeover this government and when Trump goes down for treason, and he will because CEOs always miss the tiny details they hate to feel inhibit their corporate power, you go down with it.

Even Republicans are trashing Donald Trump. From Blabber/Buzz:

Establishment Republicans Bash Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration, Refugee Resettlement

Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse called the refugee moratorium a “signal” to jihadists:

The President is right to focus attention on the obvious fact that
borders matter. At the same time, while not technically a Muslim ban,
this order is too broad. There are two ways to lose our generational
battle against jihadism by losing touch with reality. The first is to
keep pretending that jihadi terrorism has no connection to Islam or to
certain countries. That’s been a disaster. And here’s the second way to fail: If we send a signal to the Middle East that the U.S. sees all
Muslims as jihadis, the terrorist recruiters win by telling kids that
America is banning Muslims and that this is America versus one religion.

You’ve got it. The fake Muslim ban is not intended to prevent terrorism at all – it’s nothing more than a smokescreen – a smokescreen that his pathetic followers don’t even realize is a ruse. Trump’s trying to divert attention from all the other evil creating EOs he’s signing right and left (the Muslim ban is drowning all those out. Like pulling America out of the Paris agreement.).

Not one immigrant that has come from the 6 nations in the Muslim ban has ever been recorded to have killed even one American over the past 3-4 decades. So banning immigrants and refugees from this group of Muslim dominate nations is accomplishing nothing to reduce terrorism as Trump has deliberately not included any of the 7 Muslim-dominate nations from the same area of the world, nations where he has business interests but have sent us immigrants that have killed many Americans. Immigrants from four of the nations he’s omitted from the list have actually been involved in killing over 3,000 Americans over those same 3-4 decades.

So it’s clear that Trump’s Muslim ban which he claims is supposed to make America safer, is doing nothing of the kind; in fact, because the ban is nothing more than a recruiting ploy for al Qaeda and ISIS, both groups which have many active cells within the 7 Muslim nations not included in the ban, Trump is actually inviting terrorism and making America far less safe than it was before Trump signed his atrocious travel ban.

If anyone thought for one second a Money Hungry Corporate Titan would not be nosing around and kissing up to any country where he has prostituted his name, they are now seeing just how far Trump believes he can go to “win, win,” “dangle the carrot,” and “push the envelope.”

The reality is that rigging the election was nothing more than his unusal corporate hostile takeover strategy. Sure he overloads his “cabinet” with family members. The only family member he hasn’t given a cabinet position to is Baron Trump. And that may be on the horizon if the Titan of Trickery can manage it.

It’s awfully funny how on Sunday, January 29th, he was on the phone with Putin and now all of a sudden he is making the veiled threat to takeover the computer systems to silence dissenters in social media and the media he calls “The Opposition Party.”

So, as he said in his Sunday TWEEEEEEET, he and “Putin discussed how to stop cyber attacks.” I’ll just bet Putin the Russian hacker and his hacker army filled El HUMPY di TRUMPY’s ear with how to “stop cyber attacks.” Corporate double talk for “Hey! Putzy! How do I shut down the dissenters?”

He chose only those countries for his hit man attack and then tries to sham that “he is protecting the country.” Really? Check out how many of the 9/11 Terrorists were Saudi, Egyptians, Yemenis and Pakistanis. None of these countries were on Trump hit list. Not Treason at the highest level?

BS. His mommy Mary Ann was a Scottish immigrant. Two of his wives were immigrants HE brought here while both were already pregnant with HIS anchor babies.

Now, he is signing off on executive orders leaving the Republicans out of the loop who put him in office. roflmao. They get what they paid for. Worse, he is attempting to remodel the entire US military.

Look at the damages. He uses Putin tactics to silence the media, Putin tactics to isolate Americans by taking over our computer systems and destroying our right to privacy and then has his own military. Not a dangerous jackass you say?

You know why the southern and midwestern hicks and the low life Trump supporters are anti immigrant…they want the jobs these people are MORE capable of performing. Don’t believe it? Ask yourselves. How much National Security experience and EXPERTISE does Ivanka or her limp noodle brothers have compared to the Joint Chiefs of Staff? Trump is screwing up royally.

The end result is that the mess the Republicans created yet again will take decades to clean up.

Trump and his followers are reinventing the US Constitution and he knows it.

Where was everyone complaining about Saudi Arabia, when Clinton, GW Bush and Obama were in office? It was the same then as it is now basically; outside of better technology, weaponry, more people and wealth. Silly me, I imagine some of these protestors might have been in diapers, daycare, grade school, high school and or college during some of those administrations. When was the last time this many people stood up and spoke out? I’d say in the 60’s and early 70’s, Vietnam era. Today, many of those people are business persons, and not a whole lot has changed with regard to the corruption, pork laden bills, and other bureaucratic BS that plagues the nation and the world. Whether or not you like or dislike what the current President is doing; fact is, he is doing something different and people are waking up. The Zombification of society is getting a much needed shock treatment. Now we all just need to ride out this wave of storm fronts. The key will be understanding and self-control of our emotions; whether good or bad. If we lose control and harm others or their property, we have become the no goodnicks.

You have a childish mind if you think Trump is doing something that’s worthwhile–doing something provocative to show that you’re tough is folly, especially when you are indirectly playing to the interests of ISIS, or with Bannon, appeasing racists in the US. Both of those activities can be said by the average moron to be “doing something. Shock-Treatment for the sake of having fun and showing you’re the Emperor is ludicrous and counter-production. If Trump is concerned about terrorists, then he would either have to be completely daft, or he may have personal ties that prevented him from doing so—so the general logic would point to. But with Trump, he certainly isn’t aware of the pivotal role many well-placed Saudis had in financing the madrasas in the Kingdom that teach formally that the West is composed of “Kaffirs” and deserve to be treated with severity, and the central role Saudi Wahhabi ideology plays in informing the impressionable minds of young Saudi youth attending such schools. So, Trump is daft on that count.
As for personal ties, he most likely has such ties connected with business interests—a prospect that no one in Congress seems to have the nerve to explore for fear of annoying the Emperor.

So, Trump is accountable on being daft, and because of his greed which precludes his being objective regarding Saudi Arabia.

How long will Congress’ lack of morality and a spine let this charade, and abuse of power by a stark raving madman, persist?? How much longer will they allow Trump to push America and the world towards the brink?? How long will Congress allow for a racist to remain in the White House, so close to a narcissist who is so egocentric, so easily seduced by attention, and easily susceptible to conspiracies??

The really silly part is that many of these congressmen and women will be up for re-election in 2018. Do any of them realize that the majority of the nation’s voters did NOT vote for 45 (my name for the orange-haired idiot)? If they stand up to him, they will endear themselves to those of us who see 45 for what he is….a totally unqualified idiot with a narcissist tendency and a need for constant adulation! They would have a better chance of re-election if they spoke up than they would if they stood still and did nothing. Even some of 45’s current followers will eventually see the light also, at least the more intelligent ones (if there are any)!

BREAKING: Republicans cheated to take over our economy and health care system:

This just happened: “Senate Republicans pushed through a pair of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees Wednesday, upending standard committee rules to circumvent a Democratic boycott,” reports The Hill newspaper.

An investigation by The Columbus Dispatch found that Steve Mnuchin was “untruthful with the Senate during the confirmation process” about his Wall Street conflicts of interest and financial history.

Neither will Donald Trump for much longer:

Trump throws Washington into state of anxious uncertainty

Two weeks into his presidency, Donald Trump has thrown Washington into a state of anxious uncertainty.

Policy pronouncements sprout up from the White House in rapid succession.

Some have far-reaching implications, most notably Trump’s temporary refugee and immigration ban, but others disappear without explanation, including planned executive actions on cybersecurity and the president’s demand for an investigation into unsubstantiated voter fraud.

The day’s agenda can quickly be overtaken by presidential tweets, which often start flashing on smartphones just as the nation’s capital is waking up.

“The last two weeks feel like six months,” said Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
