Trump Beats Republicans, Not Clinton, In One-On-One Matchups

Share

By Megan Cassella

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald Trump would win a hypothetical head-to-head contest against either of his two closest Republican U.S. presidential rivals, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, but he would fall short of beating Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton if the election were held today, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday.

If the Republican primary featured a face-off between Trump and Cruz, a Texas senator, Trump would win the support of 41 percent of Republican and independent voters, the poll showed. Cruz would take 31 percent, while 28 percent said they would not vote in a Cruz-Trump contest.

If Rubio, a Florida senator, were pitted against Trump, the billionaire real-estate mogul would take 40 percent support of Republican and independent voters to Rubio’s 34 percent, according to the poll. Twenty-seven percent said they would not vote. In this matchup, Trump’s lead over Rubio is within the survey’s credibility interval.

Cruz and Rubio currently sit in second and fourth place of all Republican candidates, respectively, in the run-up to the November 2016 presidential election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Friday.

Despite months of leading the Republican polls, Trump would fall short in a general election competition held today against Clinton, the poll showed. In a one-on-one match-up, the former secretary of state would take 40 percent support of all voters to real estate mogul Trump’s 29 percent.

Eight percent of respondents said they did not know which candidate they would support in a Clinton-Trump competition. Fourteen percent said they would not vote for either one, and another 9 percent said they would not vote at all.

The survey of 1,627 likely voters from all parties was conducted between Dec. 16 and Dec. 21, with a credibility interval of 2.8 to 3.7 percentage points.

This goes to show the state of our country when a wildly successful businessman can’t beat a very corrupt politician who has been mired in illegal activities her whole adult political life…… Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Trump fan but when you put lipstick on a pig its still just a pig!

People who think Trump is a “wildly successful businessman” are the real problem of our society. People who are so ignorant and uninformed that they think inheriting 200 million 40 plus years ago makes someone successful diminishes our entire society. Clearly you’re not informed enough to know that starting with that amount of money my 7 year old could turn it in to billions with a mutual fund. Or do you consider running up debt and bankrupting a successful business strategy? Bet you don’t consider that being a success if a poor person files bankruptcy, do ya? Your definition of success is truly what has destroyed our country. It’s not merit, not hard work, not invention, it’s just being rich, doesn’t matter if you stole, robbed, killed, or poisoned the environment, as long as your rich, right? Disgusting, truly disgusting.

What makes a wildly successful business man? Starting form nothing and building a great wealth? Running successful companies, not being sued because of your business practices, not going bankrupt? Just having a lot of money doesn’t make you a wildly successful business man.

You’re the brainwashed sheep, have you ever heard trump talk “i started out with a SMALL $1M loan from my father” lmao. He didn’t earn anything on his own. He decimated Atlantic City but saved himself with bankruptcy. He’s the biggest scan artist there is. You claim Hillary is corrupt, but what has she ever done that was illegal and been convicted of ? Nothing. She’s made mistakes, misstatements and undoubtedly exaggerations, but a’ll of the so called scandals are created by the republicans to smear the Clintons. I guess they hate that Bill was pres and that she dares to try herself. Get a grip on the truth.

Jerpell, you really fall for the whole GOP propaganda machine, don’t you? I think Hillary Clinton has been one of the most examined and inspected politicians, with absolutely nothing but rumor and slander as the outcome. The GOP has tried really hard to destroy her, just as they did Bill …. It really is kind of sad how desperate they are. I mean look at the corruption in their OWN ranks. You would think they would clean up their own act and quit playing dirty in elections. But you have fallen for it, your brain is gone.

Where are the convictions, following extensive investigations, into these illegal activities? So how is she a very corrupt politician as opposed to the GOP field including the “non politicians”? P.S. I am a Bernie Sanders supporter, but if Clinton is the nominee I will vote for her because I don’t agree with the policies, and ideologies presented by the Republicans.

Agree with you on HRC but when you give a buffoon a microphone he’s still a buffoon. Trump is just as corrupt as Clinton. He bragged about bribing politicians in the first debate.

Tellingly none of the GOP pols on the stage challenged him when he said that he gives money to pols and when he calls them for a favor they comply.

Okay, then you must be able to supply actual court proceedings to back up your claims that Clinton is a criminal, right? Sheesh, you need to come up with something better than the BS you typed. IF Clinton was only half as bad as the GOP would have us all believe, she’d of been in jail long before now and they have tried every lie, every dirty trick, every underhanded scheme to discredit her and have failed miserably so either Clinton isn’t guilty or Republicans are inept. And I certainly don’t want an inept president as this country’s leader.

Wasn’t that her job then? I asked about the same question when Mitt was running, about his business practices of bankrupting a company, stripping it of its assets and firing all the workers without a dime, then selling the shell at a profit and was told “That’s good business!” and I should be happy about his success.

Amazing to me how much I had forgotten!

When Bill Clinton was president, he allowed Hillary to assume authority over a health care reform. Even after threats and intimidation, she couldn’t even get a vote in a democratic controlled congress. This fiasco cost the American taxpayers about $13 million in cost for studies, promotion, and other efforts.

Then President Clinton gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Her first two selections were Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood – both were forced to withdraw their names from consideration.

Next she chose Janet Reno – husband Bill described her selection as “my worst mistake.” Some may not remember that Reno made the decision to gas David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas resulting in dozens of deaths of women and children.

Husband Bill allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission. Lani Guanier was her selection. When a little probing led to the discovery of Ms. Guanier’s radical views, her name had to be withdrawn from consideration.

Apparently a slow learner, husband Bill allowed Hillary to make some more recommendations. She chose former law partners Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department. Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

Many younger votes will have no knowledge of “Travelgate.” Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend Harry Thompson – and the White House Travel Office refused to comply. She managed to have them reported to the FBI and fired. This ruined their reputations, cost them their jobs, and caused a thirty-six month investigation. Only one employee, Billy Dale was charged with a crime, and that of the enormous crime of mixing personal and White House funds. A jury acquitted him of any crime in less than two hours.

Still not convinced of her ineptness, Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the president denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House. Following this debacle, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office after more than thirty years of service to seven presidents.

Next, when women started coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment and rape by Bill Clinton, Hillary was put in charge of the “bimbo eruption” and scandal defense. Some of her more notable decisions in the debacle was:
She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. After the Starr investigation they settled with Ms. Jones.

She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

Hillary’s devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for ‘lying under oath’ to a grand jury and then his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives.

Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, “I do not recall,” “I have no recollection,” and “I don’t know” a total of 56 times while under oath.

After leaving the White House, Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had stolen.
What a swell party – ready for another four or eight year of this type low-life mess?

Now we are exposed to the destruction of possibly incriminating emails while Hillary was Secretary of State and the “pay to play” schemes of the Clinton Foundation – we have no idea what shoe will fall next. But to her loyal fans – “what difference does it make?”

Electing Hillary Clinton president would be like granting Satan absolution and giving him the keys to heaven!

Trump filed for three or four bankruptcies, thus using the very financial and federal regulations that all these Republican/TeaParty members so despise to preserve the Trump money. The people that Trump owed money to got shafted time and time again, My fear is that this shafting of others is what Trump would try to accompish if he were to get elected. The scary part is that Trump thinks he can manage this (still-great) country as if it were one of his television shows or beauty pageants.

Well he’s bested the lying GOP. One thing at a time. The liberals time is coming:

‘Nothing raises the bitter ire of our corrupt, rotted DC Media like
The Truth. These leftwing liars, these protectors of central government,

their disposal to exterminate a Truth Teller, which is why Republican
frontrunner Donald Trump has faced the kind of demagoguery and venomous hate no politician not-named Sarah Palin can begin to understand.

For telling inconvenient truths, naturally the DC Media attacks Trump as a liar, and not just as a liar, but the biggest liar of the year, of ever in the history of lying.

Did Trump lie to the American people before stripping millions of
their health insurance and doctors? No, that was Barack Obama and the
    media.

Did Trump lie about a video causing a terrorist attack? No, that was Obama and Hillary Clinton, and the DC Media.

Did Trump lie to grieving families about that same video? No, that was Hillary.

Did Trump lie about a secret email account or about millions of
favor-seeking dollars from foreign governments or the taxes he filed
regarding those millions of dollars from favor-seeking foreign
    governments? No, that was Hillary-Hillary-Hillary.

Trump’s only sin in 2015 was telling a number of Hard Truths Democrats and their media allies did not want told.’

    LOL, can’t wait!
