Trump Campaign Manager: ‘No Sh*t,’ We Used False Border Footage In TV Ad

Share

Donald Trump’s new campaign ad promises to seal off a national border that is out of control — but maybe not one of the actual borders in the United States.

Trump’s new spot boasts, among various maniacal campaign vows, that the tycoon will “stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our Southern border — that Mexico will pay for,” as video is shown of a large crowd of people rushing a border fence.

The clear suggestion is that the footage is of the “southern border” between the United States and Mexico. But it’s not — it’s 5,000 miles away, in a small Spanish enclave on the mainland of Morocco.

PolitiFact was able to trace the footage back to the Italian television network RepubblicaTV. On May 3, 2014, the network posted footage of Moroccans crossing the border into Melilla, one of two enclaves on the Moroccan coast that are held by Spain. Migrants who cross the border there are essentially entering territory held by a European Union nation, even though they are still on the African continent.

NBC News reporter Katy Tur — who has previously been called out for ridicule by The Donald at his rallies — got a very interesting comment from Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

This campaign official for a presidential frontrunner then further clarified his position:

Update: The Trump campaign soon issued a new statement, Katy Tur has also reported — in which they insisted that their use of the Morocco footage over a narration about the Mexican border was totally intentional!

For sure, don’t let little things like facts interfere with solid propaganda.

Especially if they repeat it enough times people will believe it!

Kind of explains why certain governors are feeding their state lead. It is getting to the point where they have to keep them stupid to get votes.

It is perfectly acceptable to use footage showing an analogy — as long as the ad makes that clear. Otherwise, reasonable people can infer that the footage actually depicts the problem being addressed. Mr. Trump’s campaign manager’s admission, after the fact, insufficient to rectify the erroneous ad. Whichever candidate you support, I encourage you to criticize false and misleading statements. Both parties use false and misleading statements; my guess is that they believe the truth is unconvincing or un-motivating.

Sure, both parties and all politicians are guilty of misleading people, if not outright lying. However, denial of facts, reality, science, rights for minorities, etc. is the founding principles of only one major party, the Cons. Clear evidence of what scum, these people are is on display whee a group of armed ignorant morons are illegally occupying buildings & complaining because they are not allowed to steal land & resources. Truly disgusting humans, using the word human loosely.

Hi Red: I understand your frustration & share your lack of sympathy for the occupiers. To be fair, though, I believe that: (1) the occupiers have at least sworn not to begin violence; (2) several people who are members of like-minded groups have criticized the occupation; (3) most importantly, there are much worse people walking our streets. So, I prefer to save labels like “scum” for the truly deserving. Today, a 3 year old girl was found safe after being abandoned by a car-jacker who discovered the girl in the back seat. The car-jacker made no attempt to deliver the girl somewhere safe or even notify authorities about her whereabouts.

Fascinating how you seem willing to overlook a heavily armed group people occupying a federal building illegally because they want to steal public property and supposedly promised not to initiate violence. Completely ridiculous. Because these people are looking for violence, it’s what they are about and why they are so heavily armed. Second it’s the same people from the Bundy ranch who suggested they would use women and children as shields to protect themselves and try to cast the Feds in a negative light. So they weren’t any more concerned with the safety of children than your case jacket story. And I suspect you haven’t once complained about the hundreds of daily SWAT raids in to the homes of private citizens both armed and unarmed and the children the police have endangered there. So tell me what makes these criminals more deserving? What males you accept their claims of non violence while ok’ing constant raids into private homes? Ridiculous! These people are criminals, terrorists actually and should be the ones imprisoned!!

Be afraid of a man who uses propaganda and lies to get what he wants. This is not anyone who should get NEAR the White House! Vote for Hillary!

Of course it’s intentional. It’s all part of the intentional scary hysteria tactic. There isn’t a problem, so let’s create one, “that’s the republican way”.

Just proof again that you cannot shame or embarrass those who lack any type of conscience or moral compass or ethics. And Trump is just the latest, loudest of the scumbag Cons. The Con movement is dependent of complete ignorance, stupidity, & violence to others.

I would be shocked if this trash master ever show the least bit of class. All he wants to do is keep his down scale base fired up because he knows full well that they’ll believe anything and everything that comes out of his lying butt.
Worse yet, these cons have made it OK for their base to be this gullible, hateful and bigoted. Well, it’s not OK.
We’ll be working overtime to get out the vote and make sure that the only way tRump gets into the White House is through the Service Entrance.

I doubt that as there serve staff has very stiff back ground checks and that crook would never pass sadly while trump got over a million for the construction of the Tampa trump tower and all 64 unit we sold but that luxury tower never even broke ground so how trump make million simple the 64 people put over 2 million in down payments and only got about half of that back and Donald trample blamed it on a contracting company that went out of business

Of course he blamed it on the contracting company. None of his crooked deals that go south are his fault. It’s always somebody else with him. He never takes ownership of anything. And yet his base still worships him because he “tells it like it is”. Yeah, right.

Trump sickens me to my very core. A pole that came out last week said that 50% of Americans would be “deeply ashamed” if Trump was our president. I wonder how many are somewhat ashamed, ashamed, a little ashamed, and throwing up in the wastebasket ashamed?

The American people want less immigration, unfortunately all the candidates except Trump have been bought off by billionaires who want to keep flooding the country with ‘cheap’ labor.
