Trump Promised To Release His Tax Returns With Obama’s Birth Certificate — So Where Are They?

A few months ago, The National Memo compiled every single instance, from April 2011 to June 2016, when Donald Trump pledged to release his tax returns as a presidential candidate.

Over the years, Trump used his taxes as leverage for his own political purposes: On October 24, 2015, Trump said he would release his taxes “when we find out the true story on Hillary’s emails.” On February 25, 2016, the story changed: “Nobody would ever put out their returns that’s under an audit.” (Trump has been under continuous IRS audit since 2002, according to his lawyers. That does not and should not stop him from releasing returns, a practice every president since Nixon has observed.)

Ahead of the 2012 elections, when Trump was flirting with a bid at the presidency, he told George Stephanopoulos “I’m going to do the tax returns when Obama does his birth certificate.”

A week later, Obama released his birth certificate. Still, no tax returns from Trump. “So, Donald Trump, Now That Obama Has Released His Birth Certificate, Are You Going To Release Your Tax Returns (As You Said You Would)?” Business Insider asked at the time. “Will Donald Trump Now Release His Tax Returns?” wondered ThinkProgress.

Three weeks later, Trump dropped out.

Now that Trump, after five years, finally takes the president at his word that his birth certificate is legitimate (he did not at the time, calling the document “his long form birth certificate — or whatever it may be), will he finally release his tax returns, as he promised he would?

Donald Trump Jr. said Thursday of his father’s taxes, “there’s nothing there, but if there is, they’re going to try to create a story,” referring to “every want-to-be auditor in the country.”

“We don’t need a story with everyone questioning everything,” he said.

Uhhhh . . . “‘We don’t need a story with everyone questioning everything,’ he said.” Why not? Republicans in Congress have been doing that to Hillary Clinton for years–even after all of the explanations have been given and acknowledged as truthful. If Trump has nothing to hide, then there should be few, if any, questions about his taxes. Of course, without the released tax return(s), there are only questions and no answers. So anything goes in terms of speculation. Let’s make stuff up and see if it sticks to Trump, et al. I’ll start. Donald Trump is a very sick man, and his tax return will show that he’s claimed medical expenses for psychiatry, diabetes, and hepatitis–not to mention the fact that his official residence is in Belize, and he’s had that residence for the past ten years. Anyone else?

Good idea, mine is “Its no wonder Trump won’t show his tax return – – He’s bankrupt!”

Not only is he bankrupt, but also nobody would hire this guy. He’s an old dude (getting senile, maybe?). Running for President is the only thing he can do. Every other job he’s applied for requires an interview, and he fails those miserably because he’s so full of himself. I want to see the list of jobs he’s applied for.

Whatever it is it is devastating Trump and the world get’s a front-row seat to watch the devastation in real-time.

(As the beloved Bob Uecker would say in one of his commercials—“…Ohh! I must be in the front row.”)

But, but, but Trump told us on Howard Sterm’s radio show that he fought a tougher war than those who fought in Vietnam: he fought the dangerous war against STDs in the swinging sexual freedom days of the ’70s. 🙂

Everyday another fresh revelation of a Faustian tale starring Donald Trump. This circus act of his gets more tiresome but offers a real-time study of how lying, cheating, greed, and fear-mongering decays the soul. Those with insight, take note! As for the “deplorables”, it’s all good and part of a juvenile game they revel in.

Trump should release his tax returns…..when Obama releases his college transcripts.

You are 100% correct and no other candidates have released their college transcript. Trump called for Romney to release his tax returns but now will not release his. Just another example of this narcissist’s motto od “do as I say not as I do”.

How are those two connected? BTW, can you name presidential candidates who did release such info? Bush II’s were released, more correctly leaked after he said he would not release them. One thing for certain is that Obama must have a good student since he was elected leader of the law review, and given the job as a professor of Constitutional Law.

Trump should release his tax returns because every candidate since Nixon has. Nixon’s were being audited by the IRS when he released them. Trump should release them – because he said he would. Your not suggesting Trump is a liar now, are you?

Does anyone really believe that “if” he releases his tax returns they will be actually the ones he submits to the IRS? That is pure fantasy. We would see whatever he can have dummied up to make him look wonderful.

nope – his “doc” is a specialist – gastro intestinal. Why would he be his doc for 20 years if he did not have a gastrointestinal problem? I see a cardiologist…..but I also have an internist for everything else.

Mama Bear, I loved the REAL doctor pointing out that Trump’s “doctor” said that all of Trump’s tests were positive and then the real doctor pointed out that if a test is positive that means the person has whatever illness the test was for. Hmm, personally I bet there was no test for honesty or truthfulness because they certainly would not have come back as positive.

Trump is a sap & so is anyone else who doesn’t think he has something big to hide. I always knew from day 1 there’s no way he would dare release his tax returns. They would expose him for the real fraud he truly is. Even his VP Mike Pence has released his returns. I don’t know people but something is going on. I can feel it like I can read body language ????

Why won’t Trump release the dated letter from the IRA stating which year or years he is being audited? How do we even know if he’s being audited? Trump lies about every blooming thing. He’s not going to release his tax returns because he cannot let the public see his huge indebtedness to the Chinese government and Putin’s oligarchs and the Saudi prince who told us he has bailed out Donald Trump twice and will therefore accept no criticism of Saudi Arabia from Donald Trump. He can’t let us see that he doesn’t pay taxes. We know from his casino applications that he did not pay taxes many years and we know that he took the STAR property tax deduction in NY available to couples earning less than $500,000/yr.

Trump thinks he doesn’t have to play by the rules because he thinks he is a god who is on the same level as that Unknowable Essence.
The Philistines, the people of Ad and the Thamud in southern Arabia, had similar ways of thinking and an equal haughtiness, and now they are just dust—as Trump soon will be.

Being that he is the narcissistic, sociopath and psychotic person that he is, he must have all his options open for FREE PRESS. So stalling on his taxt returns, other than the fact they would reveal he is a financial fraud, he can not afford to have the world know where he is getting money from (Russians, Syria, ISIS, etc) to sustain his businesses, support his needy children, maybe he has the next bankrupty lined up. So, expect more on the saga of his tax returns, FREE PRESS, FREE MEDIA, US Citizens expectations, adoration from the “basket weavers”, etc. How can he let go…. No, no, no.

As DT told his physician, Dr. Oz, when he made a theatrical show of the letter his other physician wrote, if there was anything bad in it, he wouldn’t provide it. He would find a way to avoid providing it. I guess that explains why he keeps hiding his taxes.
