Trump The Twitter Troll Goes On A Roll

It’s Donald Trump vs. the World — and the fight is live on Twitter.

It began on Thursday, after Senator John McCain (R-AZ) denounced Trump for having “fired up the crazies.” Trump shot right back by calling for McCain’s defeat in his Senate seat next year — and also attacked the former Republican presidential nominee’s military record, as a student at the Naval Academy.

That one spurred condemnations from across the political spectrum — most notably from former congressman John Dingell (D-MI), a veteran of World War II.

Trump dug in Friday morning against the backlash, however, quoting a tweet from someone else in praise of his McCain trash talk.

Trump’s other big fight was with Rick Perry, who has already publicly taken on The Donald. On Thursday, Perry released a statement saying in part:

I have a message for my fellow Republicans and the independents who will be voting in the primary process: what Mr. Trump is offering is not conservatism, it is Trump-ism – a toxic mix of demagoguery and nonsense.

America doesn’t need another president who pays lip service when issues of national security are at stake. America doesn’t need another president who will pass the buck on border security. We need a president who will finally act to secure the border after decades of failed leadership in Washington, D.C. And Mr. Trump has done nothing to prove that he is the president America needs.

Cue the response by Trump, with a dig at Perry’s intelligence — an obvious sore point for the candidate who had the infamous “Oops” moment the last time he ran:

Well, that debate sure is going to be fun.

I understand that Trump hasn’t filed to run for POTUS yet. He’s only filed an extension which last 45 days and then he can get another extension for 45 days. That’s what he said in an interview last week.

He filed last week to meet the Fox News requirements to be presnt on teh debate stage.

Whether his filing is filled with pure Trump is still to be seen.

Really?? I guess in you’re wildest dreams.

You may be interested in what some of the foreign press thinks of Trump. It’s not much – believe me:

Here are some excerpts from an article in The Washington Post recapping some of the comments from the international press:

What the world thinks about our infatuation with Donald Trump

The headline in The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom on the day of Trump’s June 16 blustering announcement read: “Trump: “I’m rich … so make me president.”

John Niven in Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail wrote soon after Trump announced that the whole thing was hard to believe, drawing a metaphor from news Trump hired actors to cheer him on at his campaign launch: Ironically, this is exactly what America would become if Trump was to become president – a cast of extras following a lunatic around.

Of course, this would all simply be hysterically funny if we didn’t have to return to what I meant earlier by saying I having mixed feelings about Trump’s candidacy for the position of world’s most powerful leader. There’s the tiny problem that we’re dealing with a country that not only elected Ronald Reagan but now thinks he was one of the greatest presidents in history. A country that elected not one but two George Bushes. A country now considering going again with a third Bush. That’s right – a country so deranged that Trump could actually win the bloody thing.

Trust me, no one would be laughing then.

The Australian published a letter on June 18 declaring:

Reality TV star and real estate mogul Donald Trump has two things going for his ludicrous push to spend his 70s in the White House – a bottomless war chest and endless self-delusion. His evidence for billing himself as the “most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far” was his ownership of a “Gucci store that’s worth more than Romney”. His qualifications to lead the world’s greatest democracy are threadbare. The Republicans will want to get the Trump sideshow out of the way as early as possible. The first primaries are not due for another nine months and until then, if he perseveres, Mr Trump will be a distraction from the serious contest of ideas the party and the US need.

Simon Barber in South Africa’s Business Day used Trump’s launch as a stepping stone to criticize Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on July 16:

If the whack job Donald Trump can top the opinion polls for the Republican nomination, as he was this week, chances are there’s a wave of populist Republican id rolling in for Cruz to catch as well, once Trump has had his moment.

[Our Philip Bump agreed: Why Ted Cruz is defending Donald Trump]

Go here for more on what the foreign press published:

Cruz is defending Trump because he knows that may be his only chance to get the Nr. 2 spot in the ticket.
The sense I get from watching foreign TV is that people in Europe and other parts of the world are horrified at the prospect of a President Trump.
The most scary part for me is not so much the things this lunatic says, but the fact that millions of Americans support him!

        1. Independent1 July 18, 2015

I concur completely. It’s truly unfortunate that the American electorate is so easily manipulated and turned into nothing but brainwashed sheeple. People who will not even use common sense in in figuring out they’re being hoodwinked and lied to; and who will blindly follow anyone who comes up with an agenda that entices their wildest fantasies.

We can even see that clearly in so many of the misguided posts of the brainwashed right-wingers here on the NM who are willing to post outright lies, distortions of the truth and even fabrications of reality – posters who have been so clearly misled by Faux News, Rush Limbaugh and so many other purveyors of the GOP’s totally misguided right-wing ideologies.

          1. Dominick Vila July 18, 2015

I can’t help wondering if some of the trolls in the NM are professionals working for some right wing organizations. They always seem to have ready access to right wing talking points, and there is a lot of similarity between their posts.

          2. Independent1 July 18, 2015

I’m fairly sure of it. Kendeb was posting from the Heritage Foundation. And I’m reasonably sure itsfun, Paulyz and some of the others are posting from the RNC or some other right-wing think tank.
