Trump’s Denouncement Of Sanctuary Cities Targets Police: Tim Kaine

According to Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine, Donald Trump harms police officers with his denouncement of sanctuary cities as a tenet of his immigration platform. Kaine, based on his own experience as mayor of Richmond and governor of Virginia, said Trump is “basically […] going after police chiefs.”

“And I trust police chiefs in terms of knowing what should be done to keep their communities safer and police departments and mayors a lot more than I trust Donald Trump,” Kaine continued.

Trump has voiced his opposition to sanctuary cities before, but in Wednesday night’s speech on immigration once again stated his goal of ending practice.

On CNN’s “New Day,” Kaine said he had dealt with the interplay between law enforcement and undocumented immigrants in his tenure as governor:

Let me give you an example from when I was governor. There was a program back then where some cities were joining in a program with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] to essentially be deputized to do the work of the immigration service. My law enforcement officials, who are tough law enforcement people, came to me and said do not do this, because if the immigrant community starts to sees us as immigration officials, they won’t call and complain about crimes in their neighborhood, they won’t be witnesses in cases.

Although Trump and the Republican establishment haven’t agreed on much, at least a few GOP politicians back Trump’s view on sanctuary cities.

After Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would have forced sanctuary cities to cooperate with the federal government on deportations, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) also called for the end of sanctuary cities: “With 11 million illegal immigrants in our country, there will be some who are violent criminals. It makes no sense to give those violent criminals any safe haven.”

“Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) also called for the end of sanctuary cities: “With 11 million illegal immigrants in our country, there will be some who are violent criminals. It makes no sense to give those violent criminals any safe haven.””

What kind of convoluted logic to right-wingers live with?? More than 95% of the 11 million immigrants are not violent criminals so we should punish the more than 95% because of the less than 5% that are violent??

So why don’t we just throw all Americans in prison because of the 10 plus percent of native-born Americans who are violent criminals so that we’re sure we’ve got all the violent criminals in jail to prevent them from committing a crime??? Keep in mind that native-born Americans commit 8-10 times more crimes than immigrants – and when a native-born commits a crime, the crimes they commit are 2-3 times more likely to be crimes that require jail time.

Using the logic of most right-wingers, there should be a campaign out there to prevent American citizen women from having babies these days because when they grow up, those babies born in America will be 8-10 times more likely to be violent criminals than the people who immigrate to America from foreign countries!!!!!!!

Keep in mind that El Paso Texas and San Diego California – two cities with the largest Latino and illegal alien populations are among the 10 cities in America that have seen the sharpest decline in crime over the past 2 decades!!!!! And the crime rate in these cities today is lower than the national average.

So somebody is whistling Dixie when they claim immigrants are a major crime threat.

Great comment ! Especially regarding the rate of crime in large cities with large immigrant populations.
And yes, logic is something alien to Trump.

There is so much misinformation out there being fed to the RW whiners today.
It’s a wonder they aren’t writing wills, crawling in their bathtubs, and opening up a major arteries all across TX.AL.MS.GA. And theres just so much of it, it’s often contradictory, and a lot it is just wacky, and unhinged, like Trump. So sanctuary cities in the U.S. become like those other non existent “Muslim No go Zones” in Europe” to the ever frightened out of their wits, Right Wing. Who were equally as upset a few months ago upon hearing that E Bola infected Muslims were crossing the Southern border in droves, while Sharia Law reigned supreme in places in the very heart of Christian Europe! So now it comes across their manure spreader, that Obama, crooked Hillary, and the Liberals are setting up entire cities of lawless dens of un-American debauchery. Where rapists, and drug dealers are safe as babes in the crib, and the liberal lawlessness continues in the minds of thousands! I’m starting to think Trump’s famous Wall is meant to keep us all in the luny bin they are creating,

Yes, and like I’ve been trying to point out: The GOP is intentionally working hard to create all this mishmash in the minds of millions of Americans, and to keep the media busy by feeding it one fake scandal, conspiracy theory and nonsensical story after another – for one main purpose – so the media and the American people will not pay attention to what the party is really doing – working to gimmick our country’s laws so that the wealthy can continue to rob those of us who are less fortunate blind just to make themselves and the politicians who abet their outright thievery even richer.

The GOP is more dangerous and corrupt than the Italian Mafia ever dreamed of being!!!!!! It is a combination of the Mafia and ISIS – politicians who will even kill people to accomplish their intentions of stealing as much money as is possible.

I could not agree more Indy. And the good news I see in all this, in what I would qualify as truly evil intent of the corrupted R Right. Is the average person is buying less, and less of its propaganda as time goes on. As we have witnessed first hand, the grand falsehoods of their economic schemes with the financial crisis. Revealing what has been their hidden, and extreme agenda. All along aimed at the irreversible empowerment of the corporate entity over the people. Now, as the old guard passes away to that great Medicare clinic in the sky. The hope for America rests with a new, better educated, tech savvy, and socially tolerant generation, that is set to completely changing the political demographics in America forever, and for the better. And furthermore it is my prediction that Trump represents not only a low point for the Conservative Right, but also its last great generational stand. Its last gasp, before fading away into irrelevance. Or let’s hope so. As the Country is wasting so much time, opportunity and energy on this these senseless retro hob-gobs.
